The two of you trudged along the footpath in silence. You had your rifle sitting conveniently on your back as the summer wind blew comfortably through your hair. You couldn't help but feel eerie vibes from the slight gushing of the wind and flicking of neon restaurant banners. Ten could feel it too; the unsettling sensation floating through the air. Besides that, nothing was happening. It was a normal summer evening, the crickets were chirping and late city life no longer bustling. It was approximately two o'clock in the morning, your shift beginning at twelve. The two of you had been wandering the brightly lit night streets of Seoul for two hours on your clock in.
This puzzled you greatly, today was supposed to be the day of the supposed attack but it was like nothing was wrong. The day continued on like nothing happened and the late nights the same. Nature continued to scorch the earth's surface and winds gently brushing the treetops. If you didn't know better, you would have thought it was just another ordinary day of patrol. But it was better for nothing to happen for you all to be right
Since your patrol was soo late out, V.I.R.T.U.E wasn't as worried about the citizens but you were still told to be careful. You lost count as too how many odd glances drunk men and women had shot the object sitting behind your back. Some downright ignoring the weapons presence and some running the opposite direction whilst screaming at the top of their lungs.
"Anything to report Zone 101?" Chiming in, a very familiar voice spoke into the mic.
"Taeyong." Ten smiled before turning around to face you. When operatives were not scheduled for a patrol, some would most likely stay on hold and check in with teams which were on. Taeyong among the bunch of champions was quite skilled at this. "Nothing, it's been quite boring actually." Sighing, the two of you had halted your movement and stopped out front a closed clothing shop.
"That's usually the best type of patrol," Taeyong replied. "Looks like the tattoo was a dud."
"I guess so." Stretching your back, you groaned at how the handle of the rifle landed uncomfortably between your shoulder blade. Eyes adverting from the dark sky to the city street footpath. You stared at the dusty corner of the clothing shop in confusion. There sat a lone pebble which rocked back and forth in a rather fast pace.
You watched for a few more seconds before keeling over and examining it. There didn't seem to be anything underneath it on closer inspection that could cause the rock to move by itself. You were probably over thinking things once again.
The summer breeze continued to blow slowly, almost like it was trying to tell you something this causing you to pause. Within seconds the floor underneath you rumbled violently, followed by a loud clashing sound. Immediately you looked up, your pupils darting up and hastily searching the city skyline for any source of impact. Close to the border of your patrol zone, you spotted large puffs of grey smoke clouding the clear night sky. Following the large explosion, a petrified scream sound is heard echoing through the night street. Soon afterwards, a middle-aged woman could be seen sprinting her way down the dark street. Her faced scrunched in fear as she clutched onto the small crying child cradled safely in her arms.
