The clank of Hoseok's bow coming into contact with the grey concrete floor bounced off the walls in the now silent alleyway. All three of your attention was no longer on the witch but instead the exit of the alleyway.
Completely forgetting about the witches presence, the three of you dropped whatever you were doing and found yourselves hastily sprinting to the exit of the alleyway, in search of some answers.
"What's going on out there?" Hoseok asked only to get silence in reply. Judging by the absence of the roaring crowds and the shuttering of the cameras...it wasn't good. The eerie atmosphere which fell only caused you to gulp.
Stopping a few metres from the exit of the alleyway, you had to draw in a deep breath before peering out. As soon as you did you had spotted it. Amongst the sea bodies, you managed to see that there in the hands of Jin laid the director. Blood seeping out of the wound inflicted in the lower region of his stomach.
Your heart immediately dropped to the pit of your stomach. "No, no, no, no!"
You couldn't believe it.
You refuse to believe it.
Your body began to shake as you took a step forward to get a better look in disbelief. But no matter what angle you looked from it was still the same. "No..." With reality now quickly sinking in, you feel all colour and warmth cease from your face. It suddenly felt like all the colour had drained from the world and you were seeing everything in monochrome.
You took a step back and quickly knocked yourself back to your sense to search for one responsible.
You were livid once you caught sight of a dark figure smiling wickedly from a dark alleyway across the street. Almost immediately, you reached behind to pull your rifle out and brought it to your face.
How could you have been so stupid, you should have known. The reminiscent of black blood dripping down the walls from the stairwell didn't belong to the witch, her blood was red. You have been studying demonology for over ten years, how could you have missed such a vital detail?
You swore after the first time you had lost someone you cared for to the vile creatures of the 5th Dimension you would work hard and make sure no one else would suffer from the same fate. That was why you joined V.I.R.T.U.E. It was why you spent so many sleepless nights training. So you could win the championships and join the ranks of V.I.R.T.U.E. In honour of your mother and make a difference in the countless deaths and rapes happening in the streets. For every demon you killed someone was saved. But it seems all your efforts were put to waste and you failed again.
First, it was your mother and now Soohyun.
What was the point of becoming a demon hunter or a champion demon hunter for that matter if you couldn't even protect the ones you loved? You felt so disappointed in yourself.
Looking through the scope, you to see the figure from previously slowly being swallowed by the darkness of the shadows. You hissed at the sight and hastily let your shaking finger hover over the trigger...however you couldn't shoot. No matter how much you wanted to pull the trigger your finger wouldn't allow it. You were frozen in place.
Shutting your eyes frustration, you tightened your grip on the handle of the rifle and tried to tame your sporadic breathing pattern but it didn't work.
There in front of you was your chance to get back at the freakin demon. So why couldn't you get ahold of yourself and shoot the dam thing? Was it perhaps the self-doubt creeping up from the back of your mind in which you thought you had gotten rid of years ago?
However, those thoughts were quickly tucked back into whatever crevice it had come from when you felt a pair of hand encircling your shaking hand on the handle of your rifle.
"Don't."
You didn't even try to fight back because you knew you wouldn't have the strength to. Your arms simply fell limp. This caused your beloved rifle to fall to the ground, a loud whimper escaping your lips in the process.
.Reappearing back inside the throne room, the young enchantresses latched onto her upright staff tightly as she tried to tame the light-headedness caused by her magic casting. Teleportation was always a type of magic she had struggled with. She usually appeared at her destination with a nauseating feeling.
A low cough brought the girl back to her senses and caused her to look up. Eyes meeting with her lady, she was quick to fall to her knees to pay her respects, "My lady, apologies for the sudden appearance."
"Its quite alright Lilith, rise." Doing exactly as she was told, the girl rose and stood tall in front of her leader. The throne room was dimly lit and provided little to no light, it made it hard for Lilith to make out her leaders figure sitting on the throne...although her face was pretty ingrained into her mind. All she could see in the poor lighting conditions of the Underworld ruler was her glowing red eyes and glossy red nails. Her slender fingers rested on the edge of her thrones armchair with her red dress flowing out beneath. "I see you are still having some trouble with your teleportation spells." Lilith could imagine the unimpressed expression that was dawning her face at the moment, just the thought of it gave her chills. So she was glad the lighting in this room was so dim it prevented her from facing her leaders face of disappointment.
"Yes, my lady."
"Some more training would do you good." She replied shortly after. Although she did scare Lilith, she also looked up her to as a motherly figure, after all, she was the one who taught her how to use magic.
Lilith nodded her head curtly.
"Moving forward, it seems we are not here to discuss your future training devours. Are we?" Feeling the leaders gaze lingering on the scratches she had gained from fighting with V.I.R.T.U.E, Lilith knew exactly what she was talking about.
"No my lady. I have actually just come back from completing my mission on the 3rd Dimension." She replied whilst rubbing her scratch bashfully on her arm.
"Do continue."
"We have been successful. I also got to speak with the commander's son, Envy." Ears perking up at the sound of his son's name, the commander standing next to the throne took a step out from the shadows overcasting the throne. His actions finally made his presence known to the younger girl.
"And what have of my son?" Putting a hand in front of the commander, preventing him from moving forward, the leader tilted her head to the side with curiosity.
"You see my child, we have been having trouble keeping on contact with Envy."
"I met up with him and he doesn't seem to be in quite a hurry," Lilith responded nonchalantly.
"That good for nothing~"
"Calm down commander." Ushering the male back to the overcasting of shadows, the leader drummed her fingernails against the metal throne. "It seems he has been too caught up in the world of the 3rd Dimension he has lost sight of his goals." The drumming then ceased and what followed shocked Lilith. Her movements were so fast Lilith barely caught a glimpse of her as she made her way to where she was standing in front of the throne.
"He just needs a little push."

Its been a while since I've written and really got my head wrapped around this story so hopefully, you all can be patient as I try to re-discover my inspiration for this book.
