Chapter 19: Chaos

Before this chapter begins, please read the author note at the end because there are two very important announcements. One regarding updates and two regarding the love interest of this book.

"I know you all are looking for answers, that is why we, V.I.R.T.U.E have gathered with the United Nations to clear up any rumours which have been circling around." 

Tightening your grip around the handle of the rifle, you surveyed the area by moving your scope around the floor below. The occasional flash of a camera always had you coiling back in a blinking freezy with the attempt to recover from the bright light. Civilians were gathered outside the windows of the room. Some silent and some screaming words and sentences you could not understand. Their screams of attention were nothing compared to the loud voices of the government officials and V.I.R.T.U.E leaders.

'(Y/n), we need you as our eyes. You are the only one in the team with a high enough skill level to snip from this far away. Therefore, we have you positioned here, upon the balcony looking over the conference. Jungkook, you will be up here as well. You will be on standby in case anything is to happen to (y/n)  when she is surveilling the area. As for the others, you will all be monitoring on the ground floor'

And there you sat, tucked away in the corner of the top floor of the facility. The barrel of your rifle stuck out one of the gaps of the glass railing as you watched for any suspicious activity. The conference had just started and there didn't seem to be anything catching your eye as of now. Everything was going to plan. 

Downstairs, you spotted your fellow team members. Each of them was stationed either physically inside the conference room or around the back and out of your sight. There were, of course, the normal security guards which were usually assigned to this building in order to defer suspicion of V.I.R.T.U.E operatives patrolling.

The room was nothing special and in fact, you were getting quite bored staring at the front of the room where the speaker stood. You tried your best to keep your attention on what the speaker was coming out of the speaker but politics was one of those things you could never seem to wrap your head around.

So you averted your gaze from watching the speaker to look around the room. Just a few metres away from the speaker stood a large vase of various types of flowers. None of which you really knew the name of for except for one. Dotted amongst the mass amount of flowers sat a bunch of beautiful stargazer lilies. 

Subconsciously, a soft smile made its way onto your lips. The sight of the flowers never failed to remind you why you were here. The beautiful bunch of flowers even caused you to peek out of the scope of your rifle to take a look. 

It reminded you of her so much, they were her favourite type of flower. The meaning of the flower you always found quite grim but she always seemed to give them a whole new meaning. 

'Death isn't a bad thing, it brings people who otherwise would never have any association with each other together.' 

She would always try to convince you when you were younger that the flowers of death bore a deeper meaning.
