What I thought was going to take a few weeks, ended up taking only a couple days, the legal documents came in letting me know that I needed to be there with AJ today at 1:30 p.m. I quickly got into some nice clothes, and told Tommy that I needed him to be there for me because I wasn't sure if I could handle doing it knowing that I would be seeing Kristoffer and being that close to him without my strong and loving brother there. Tommy kissed me on the forehead and said he wasn't about to let me do it on my own, then he went into the bedroom and got his nice clothes on and wiped off most of the gothic eyeliner just for my sake in keeping a good appearance for the courtroom.
Trinity got AJ all ready for me, by the time I came down from the bedroom. She said she wanted to be there for me, but she didn't think it would be a good place to have Brina in, that it was bad enough they were making AJ go thru it. I gave her a hug and said I knew she was there with me in spirit, and that I would be just fine because I had my backup as I wrapped my arm around my big brother. Tommy gave me a smile as he got a hold of AJ and took him to the vehicle to fasten him into his safety harness. Then he jumped in the driver's seat and hollered at me to shake my tail feathers before I made myself late for my own divorce hearing.
I jumped in the car and buckled up as I told him to hurry up so I could get this nightmare over with, so I could start the next nightmare that awaited me. Tommy ruffled up my hair a little bit as he told me that the next one wasn't going to be a nightmare, that it was going to be the beginning of the greatest dream of my life...and that he would probably have a hard time awakening me from it, it would be so wonderful. I leaned my head on his shoulder as I gave a tiny sigh and told him that I sure hoped so. Twenty minutes later, Tommy was pulling up in the parking lot of the courthouse. I got out and put all the paperwork in my purse. Tommy lifted his nephew out of his seat and said that he would take care of him while I took care of business.
I went up to the desk where I told the secretary that I was there for the divorce hearing as I showed her my paperwork. She stood up and showed me to the room where the hearing was going to be held, then said that my husband hasn't shown up yet, but he did call and said he would be there eventually. I was hoping he wouldn't show up, that way all the claims I made would automatically go thru, and I would get to keep my son...but now it was time for round 2. Tommy sat down on my side of the room right behind me holding AJ and told me not to worry for I had this.
Just then Kristoffer and his entire family came into the room along with a bailiff and the secretary to type up everything that was happening during the hearing. His mom Rachelle tried to talk with me about her grandson, but I was told not to speak to any of them because it could be held against me during the hearing because now that it was an open hearing everything that was said would be written up. His sister Amanda was almost just as bad as he was when it came to the alcohol and constant partying, but anyone could see that just by what she was wearing and what she looked like. His stepfather Mitchell even showed up, he didn't care or agree with Kristoffer, but he was married to Rachelle and she wanted to have her grandson in her life, so for her, he showed up for support. For Kristoffer's real dad James Jones committed suicide back in 2009, and he was a good man, but just another emotionally weak alcoholic.
Kristoffer walked over to me and asked me why in the hell was I doing this to him! & all he was asking was for another chance so he could be with his son! Tommy stood up and asked him a little dominantly but still respectfully to step back, but the bailiff pulled Kristoffer to his seat and told him not to intimidate. The judge walked in and took her seat, I felt a sense of more security at knowing she was the lady I was talking with on the phone while I was getting the divorce papers done over the phone. She slammed her gavel down and said the hearing was now in motion and that she wanted to start out by hearing Mr. Jones side of the story, then she would listen to my side of the story. Then she would step out for a half hour break while she speaks to a few of our acquaintances to get their opinions on each of us without them knowing why then she would come back and wrap up the hearing.
So I stayed very calm and quiet during his spill of the story that was a bunch of bullshit wrapped up in cowhide, and everyone in the courtroom knew it...but I had to give it to him, he sure did know how to make a flat ass lie sound so truthful. Once it was my turn, I simply stated the truth without sugar coating anything or making things overextensive. When I told the Judge about Kristoffer's drug and alcohol addictions and that he almost killed us all from passing out cold with a lit cigarette in his hand and settting the bedroom on fire with our son and myself in the house and even after the bed he was passed out in was burning around him, he still didn't wake up from it, and that after I put the fire out, I packed my son and moved in with my brother because I was afraid for my son's and my own safety.
The judge stood up and said she would think on it, she walked out of the room and into her private office where a few of our best friends were at, and asked random questions about each of us...what seemed like hours later, she finally came out and as she slammed the gavel down, she said that the legal guardianship of a one Alexander Nicolas Jones was now my responsibility and that the divorce I filed for was approved and as of this minute I was no longer Mrs. Jones, that I had legal rights to go back to being Kacie Lee Etienne, which I told her instantly that it was what I wanted. Kristoffer's family left but before Kristoffer left he whispered to me in a threatening tone...That I haven't seen the last of him, not by a longshot.
