Chapter Two: Oops
~Delilah's POV~
I look at the dashboard quickly before looking back up at the road.
7:30am
Bleh. I should be asleep right now.
I pull up in my parking spot and turn off my car. Grabbing my book from my bag, I settle in my seat to get more comfortable and lean my book up against the wheel to wait for Lilly.
Tap-tap
Tap-tap
Looking over I see Lilly smiling sheepishly, her red hair tumbling down her shoulders and glasses slipping down her nose.
Laughing slightly I close my book and set it down in the seat next to me. Grabbing her coffee out of the cup holder I open the door and step out into the cold. I pull at my sleeves and smirk at her as she smiles slightly.
"Sorry", she laughs a little. I walk around my old, rusty truck and grab me bag and book before turning to look at her. "I woke up late", I close my door with my back then we start walking towards the building together and she continues her rambling. "I swear, my alarm is probably the quie-" I cut her off by handing her the coffee that was slowly but surely freezing my hand. I'm pretty sure my hands were about to fall off from the abnormal temperatures outside.
"Yay! I love you so much del! You are my bestest friend in the world. This is why your my favorite friend", she rambled off before taking a big swig from the drink in her hand, she sighs contently muttering blessings under her breath.
Chuckling at her antics,"2 things. 1. Bestest isn't a word and 2. I'm your only friend". She breathes 'true' in between her laughs while nodding. We make our way into the building and head to our lockers. Throwing my math books back into my locker after unlocking it with my combination I slam the doors shut. I walk a few lockers down to Lilly's and lean against the neighboring locker closing me eyes.
"Medicine didn't work last night?" I hear in a whisper-like tone. Opening my eyes I look down slightly at Lilly to see her frown and matching sadness swimming in her hazel eyes. I shake my head sighing quietly so it wouldn't be super loud.
My meds rarely work but she is always so worried about me so I try not to tell her to much bad news. I have insomnia- which basically means that I can't sleep. I take medicine once a day, right before I go to bed.
She rubs my shoulder lightly in a mother-like manner,"it'll be okay". I look up and smile at her slightly to show her i'm okay,"I know". I grab my phone out of the side pocket of my bag and turn it on looking at the time. "We should head to class", and hike my bag up my shoulder making sure I have my book. She nods falling into step beside me.
I knock into a body and quickly try to catch myself but end up almost falling. An arm suddenly wraps around my waist to hold me up surprising me making me drop my bag the rest of the way. I quickly look up to see a boy an inch or two taller than me with, im guessing dyed, dark blue hair glaring at something behind me with his piercing green eyes.
He's cute.
Shut up not the time.
"I'm so sorry! Tyler is too pushy and we didn't see you there", he grabs my bag of the floor and hands it to me. I hear laughing behind me and turn my head slightly to see two other boys slightly older than me, not by much, laughing trying to be quiet about it.
One has dark brown hair paired with ocean blue eyes and is surely over 6 foot. He is wearing your typical jock attire, jeans, nikes, an athlete-brand t-shirt and surprisingly a pair of glasses that he probably cant wear playing whatever sport he is in.
Taking a guess can't hurt plus he practically screams SPORTS so probably football or basketball. He seems like a person to get continuous concussions and not stop the thing injuring you.
No offense to football players, I actually love watching football so if someone is willing to get injured for my entertainment.. Game On!!
Back on topic.
The boy next to footbally over here is super tall too, of course (inner eye roll). Blonde hair and a pair of contrasting dark brown eyes. Kind of has the build of a baseball player or something like that maybe but I don't really know so...
He is wearing a pair of darkish blue jeans, and button-up flannel thing and vans to match.
Knocking out of my thoughts I look up and smile at him shyly," It's okay..." I trail off not knowing his name.
Noticing this he smiles sheepishly, " oh sorry. It's Colby. Colby Jacobs. And yours is?". Colby Jacobs, I haven't heard of him before. Then again I try to keep to myself- and Lilly, my brain reminds me. Yeah yeah whatever you know what I meant. I focus back and he is just looking at me curiously. Why is he- oh I still need to answer! "Umm.. Delilah. It's Delilah Hale", I smile sheepishly at him and he smiles back. Well its nice to meet you Delilah. I've never seen you before. Are you-"
"No I've been here awhile" I chuckle slightly,"I have to go to class... uh it was nice to meet you".
"Yeah, nice meeting you too." I turn slightly to wave bye but catch the eyes of one of the boys behind Colby on accident. I look at him for a second but turn back quickly and continue walking down the hall with Lilly while she is giggling silently,"Now who's a clutz". I push her away from me playfully,"Shut up. Im such an awkward person".
Laughing we walk into the classroom and sit down just as the bell rings. That was cutting it close. I go to grab my book to read a little more before class officially starts but its not there. I quietly and quickly look in my bag but it doesn't magically appear like I hoped it would.
"Lilly! Did I put my book in your locker by accident?" I quietly ask her careful to not get any unwanted attention drawn to us. She looks at me weirdly for a second before leaning over slightly and lowering her voice to a whisper,"No you had before when you ran into that guy". I think back and I sort of remember having it before but then its gone. I didn't have it when he was talking to me though...
Did I drop it?
A/N: Okay so the second one is.. maybe better?? Not sure. Im kind of getting the hang of it though.
Umm juggling my school work, schedule and writing while typing this up and trying to update on time is frustrating. I finally understand how the other authors feel.
Im trying to work out a schedule but since I write everything in my journal.. typing it all up and editing takes a while plus my school work.
Anyways, please be patient I will be more efficient once I get a routine.
Have a good day/night!☺❤
