Chapter 4

           The walk was short for Butler, Artemis, and Director Fury meaning they reached the office in less than ten minutes. Honestly it was quite a feat for Director Fury to get Artemis to keep walking instead of stopping at everything he found intriguing. The office was a dull room having grayish walls made of metal with one desk, a chair in front and behind it and a few book cases which were also made of metal. The director waved at the seat indicating for Artemis to sit, Butler stood by Artemis like the proper body guard he was. 

             "So lets get down to business shall we" Artemis said in a drawl with a small smirk on his face. Director Fury just scowled and slid a folder to his side of the desk which Butler got and handed to the young master Artemis. Flipping through it Artemis saw that it was much of the same information given to him earlier about the other people meant to be apart of this "Avengers" team. The only difference was the last two sheets, these sheets were diagrams of the Tesserac. The pages described the findings and theories on it, "you seem to have a good start on this, I don't understand why you called me in if you already have all this" Director Fury sighted rubbing the bridge of his noes with his hand as his other twisted a pen, "We...the tesserae was taken from us." Artemis just looked at him "Taken?! how can you let this thing be taken from you?! Do you know what this can do if what I'm getting from the folder is correct, this thing is a weapon and can be nothing else." Artemis was a little surprised with himself, he personally didn't know why he cared that this weapon was out in the open yet for some reason his instincts were driving his feelings. "Yes Fowl we realize that it's a weapon, problem is is finding it and keeping it. The one who took it from us is a powerful man who claims to be a god, you may recognize his name. Loki is his name and he is one hell of a person to tick off not only that he is the one who took the weapon, why we don't know that yet. We don't really care either because first we need to find this, after that then we can deal with the god wannabe." 

            Artamis looked at the director calmly thinking things through, "I still don't see how I can be of much help to you director Fury. After all I am just a "child" to many." The director chuckled at Artemis "yes you are just a child, who happens to be going to Yale Colledge, who happens to be a master in the art of thievery. Not only that but someone who turns up one day with billions worth of gold, something SHIELD is still looking into I'll have you know. Artemis we need your mind in on this, to not just help us but to help the people around. This isn't just about finding the tesseract its also about saving lives that can be prevented. Trust me I've dealt with enough paper work because of the collateral damage dealing with Banner and Stark combined to have a full on war happen."

"Ok lets say I agree with helping out, whats in it for me? Sure a pat on the back is good and all but it won't get me far and since I'm using up so much time helping out instead of in my manor fixing up some new tech." This was the side of Artemis that Butler had missed, the devious boy who had a fast mouth and a even faster brain, the boy was a natural when dealing with politics so this was second nature. "It doesn't surprise me that you are asking for something in return honestly thought you would ask that question first instead of waiting for me to even finish. Well how about this Fowl, I'll give you free security clearance which means nothing is out of your reach when it comes to secrets. Not only that but I will also pay you for your time once this is over and things have settled down." Thinking of something else Artemis spoke up "Now now director there is something else I know I need and it is not negotiable. You SHIELD people have a file on me, telling of many adventures I have....partaken in. It would be best for that to just....disappear." 

             Director Fury clenched his jaw, straining his brain and fighting with himself to say no or yes. Finally after a long silence the director nodded and held out a hand, smirking Artemis shook it with his own. "Well director I think we have a weapon to find and I say the best way to find it is to find this god person you kept mentioning....Loki if I'm not mistaken."

Two updates in one day!! Hope you guys think it was worth the wait I know it is a lot of dialog and didn't really go anywhere. Don't worry the next chapter should be up soon if not tomorrow or Wednesday. That chapter should be about Artemis meeting the other occupants of the mission and also said people looking into Artemis's background.
