Artemis Fowl: A New Path

Chapter 13

Artemis did not know what to feel, at first, he wanted to throw the offer back at Tony's face. Yell at him that it was too late, ask him where he was when he was actually was needed. Artemis never thought anyone would want him after his mother died and his father went missing 'Which reminds me to look into that.' 

Shaking his head Artemis looked back at Tony..."I I can't do that Mr. Stark...If you asked me say a year or two ago, but....." "Look Artemis I can't make you live with me, hell it took a lot for me to ask you let alone have it happen. But I know the looks you make. I've made them myself and I don't want you to be like me. That I see myself in you when you have sooooo much more potential. How bout this you go home and relax for a few days. Summer break in schools is about to happen so maybe this summer you can come live with me at the tower. Here's my number  Call me when you've had time to think it over."

Taking the card with the number Artemis looked at Tony "I'll stay in touch" With that the two went their separate ways.

At Stark Tower

It had had been a week since then and that same conversation was on Artemis's mind. He went to college so technically he can take a summer break as Tony had put it.

The card lay on his desk waiting to be used, sighing Artemis made the call.

Back at the tower, Tony was working on a new machine but the lonely boy was still on his mind. "Tony you have a call from a Mr. Butler!" Steve yelled down into the lab, the whole team had moved into the now Avengers tower. It was kind of annoying but in a good way at least to Tony. "Butler Butler..nope doesn't ring a bell. Tell him to leave a message after the beep." Turning back to his work Steve relayed the message and then replied "He works for Artemis" That got Tony running to the phone even going so far as to grab it out of Steve's hand.

"Butler!! When he said Mr. Butler I knew it had to be you! How's Arty?! Yes yes, I completely understand, no no he won't be a bother at all. Yeah, he'll have a grand old time here! Of course you're invited anytime oh you mean to live here too? That's fine ya ya. Well, I'll have a jet come pick you up...oh you have one on your way?! Right yes of course you're still welcome your rooms are all ready for you! See you in a few hours...ya ba by. "

Closing the phone it sunk in what conversation Tony just had "Artemis and Butler are on their way!! Hurry hurry we have to get their room ready. I want the best of the best, what do boys his age like he seems smart so maybe some smart things. Have Hulk punch a hole in between these two rooms so they are connecting that way Butler can check on Artemis like he wants. Ok I'm feeling green and gold for Artemis orrrrr we can go stormy blue like his eyes. HMMM yes blue it is!! "

While this was all happening the team just watched Tony run around ordering staff to do this and that. He never was responsible and knew he wasn't the best person to watch this kid. However kid was related to him and he felt somewhat responsible for him. And who knew maybe this was what he and Pepper needed to decide if they wanted kids. First things first though, he had to get the rooms ready and make broody Artemis like staying here and well not want to leave.

In Ireland 

 Artemis and Butler were currently in a private jet, to where Artemis couldn't tell you. He was told very little when they left into the sky, Butler was being very secretive. He couldn't blame his old friend though, you see Artemis had been in an odd mood. He dare he say missed the company the strange group had given him. Not only that but while everything had happened it gave him something new to do. Something not mundane like school or so crazy like looking for his father.

It had been nice to focus on something different, but now he was stuck. He didn't know if he wanted to find his father. After looking more into it he wondered what the point was now. The father he remembered was not the nice man others knew him as. He had the scares to remember that. (Yes we are going to make Artemis Sr. abusive so please be warned. )

The only real reason he looked, to begin with, was for his mother's happiness. it was the only thing she wanted it had even driven her to madness after all. She had started confusing himself for Artemis Sr. which made him almost go mad too. After her passing, he searched just to prove something, that he wasn't sure now.
