Why is this one Kansas and this one is not Ar-Kansas?

"You have to take this seriously Peter. This is your first actually dangerous mission you're going on, and you know how much Tony worries. Don't make this harder than it has to be." Natasha frowned down at the young avenger as he struggled to reply through laughter. Bucky and Natasha were taking Peter to get some stolen blueprints back from HYDRA. It's not like it was that dangerous or anything, and there weren't any expected injuries. But, it could go wrong for sure. They had to take down the guards, that's all. Still, it was important for the safety of everyone on the mission to know the plans. As soon as Peter had steadied his breathing, he replied, 

"Okay, okay, I'm sorry. I'll pay attention." He put a hand over his heart and bowed his head, smirking. Natasha grumbled under her breath but didn't push it. Bucky cleared his throat to get attention back on him and turned back to the large map behind him.

"Okay, so Nat and I are going to go around the back here." Bucky took out a sharpie and drew two x's, then drew lines coming from them. Peter snorted, trying desperately to hold in his laughter. Bucky turned to glare at him.

"I'm sorry! I'm sorry! It's just t-that I expected it to be a little more...professional? I mean, I know how serious it all is but drawing an x on a map and-and all that seems kind of childish? I'm sorry, I really don't mean to offend anybody."  Peter rambled, looking incredibly guilty. His eyes were downcast, and he was fiddling with hands. A nervous tic of his. Natasha smirked fondly. 

"Yeah, yeah. I guess you're kind of right."  Bucky glared at her, wrinkles appearing across his forehead. Natasha shrugged, still wearing her smirk. Bucky gave up, rolling his eyes and turning back to the map. Peter stared solemnly at the map, putting on his best tough guy face. As Bucky continued to explain the plan, getting deeper and deeper into the details, Peter began to get restless. Half listening, Peter's eyes scanned the map until they finally rested on the state of Kansas. Just as he was about to keep looking around, he remembered one of his favorite vines. Nearly bursting out laughing, he tried to push the thought away until he remembered something he said to Shuri. 'If you think of a vine, you're basically required by law to say it out loud.'  They had both jokingly agreed to those terms and followed them ever since. Which brought Peter to now. If he said the vine allowed Natasha and Bucky might literally murder him or kick him off the mission. If he didn't, it would just feel wrong and he'd want to say it for hours. Before he could stop himself he blurted it out, 

"SO I AM CONFUSION"There was no going back now. Bucky turned around, frowning. 

"What are you confused about?"Peter took a deep breath and stood up, walking up to the map. Natasha and Bucky stared at him questioningly.  

"Why is this one Kansas, but this one is not Ar-Kansas?" Natasha immediately rolled her eyes, glaring at the teen. She was pretty fluent in internet language, but she didn't say any of it out loud because she found it childish and stupid. Peter began rapidly hitting the map screaming, 

"AMERICA EXPLAIN! WHAT DO YOU MEAN IT'S AR-KAN-SAW?!?"Bucky was staring in a mix of confusion, disappointment, and terror. Once Peter decided he was done, he sat down in his chair and waited for the yelling to commence. Bucky stared for a couple more seconds, his mind processing. 

"WHAT THE HELL PETER?!"
