A Summer Trip

Chapter 1

My eyes open and for a second I've forgotten where I am, suddenly I remember the reason I'm in a tent and not in my bed is because me and my boyfriend, Devin, wanted to go camping, My best friend from college, Morgen, owns a lot perfect for camping next to a lake. She and her cousin Thomas stay there in the summer and invite old friends to come camping. But, there's a catch, You have to bring someone they haven't met. She sort of has a thing about meeting new people. She's searching for her soulmate and she says meeting new people is the best way to do so. Devin and I brought our friend Heath. Devin met him at work and they got along quite well, I met him when I started taking guitar lessons from him. We got on a bit too well as we ended up ignoring my lessons and playing video games instead. I never actually learned the guitar and we've all been friends since. His tent is just a few feet from ours.

"Reagan? Are you awake?" I hear Devin's blanket shuffling. "How can I not be?" I replied, referring to the brightness of the sun shining through the thin tent. Devin finally peaked his head out of his blanket and checked his phone. "Its 6:17." He spoke. " aka, Too early for humans to function" he laughed at my reply. He laid down his phone and turned to me, kissing my cheek before speaking again "Y'know, we barely met anybody last night. You think anyone else is up?" he asked. "Well we didn't meet anyone because someone got us lost and we didn't get here til after midnight" I said smiling smugly at him "I have no idea what or who you are talking about" He winked at me. I spoke again "I'm sure more people are up, this sunlight has got to be blinding someone else." I smiled at him and we decided to get up for some breakfast. We quickly changed out of our jammies and unzipped our tent to step out.

We stepped out of the tent and saw a few interesting looking people already sitting at one of the picnic tables eating muffins and cinnamon rolls. I only knew two of them, Morgen, and a tall slender girl named Mikayla who I had met 2 camping trips ago and got along super well with, we still keep in touch. Among the faces I didn't know was a tall stocky boy who was as pale as porcelain and had a small mop of curly unkempt brown hair. When I got a glimpse of his face I saw he was covered in freckles as well. There was a short skinny girl with a very nice body and dirty blonde hair, she was laughing and twirling her hair at Morgen, She obviously knew why she was here.

We walk over to the table and smile, I grab a muffin and Devin grabs a cinnamon roll. I introduce myself to the people I don't know. I learn the freckled boy is named Chris and that Hasidy, One of Morgen's friends, brought him. I also learn that the blonde girl's name is Elanna and that she's Mikayla's sister. I catch up with Mikayla and we all look over when we hear someone else's tent unzipping. Heath crawls out and pats down his hair thats sticking up in about forty different ways. "Sup Nerds" he says before walking over and and starting to chat with Chris. He must've stayed up last night to meet everyone.

Soon after Thomas and Hasidy came out of their separate tents and joined breakfast.

Everyone hit it off and we decided we were going to go swimming at night. Morgen kept joking about skinny dipping instead, part of me thought she was serious. Okay alot of me did. She was like that. Always scheming to do something fun, she probably had a few illegal substances in that cabin of hers and i'm guessing plenty of kinds of vodka. She's not an alcoholic or anything but when she was around friends she really liked to let loose. Last summer she and I died our hair, My brown into blue and her blonde into purple.

Lunchtime came around and Heath ended up helping Devin grill burgers, while he was very awkwardly flirting with Morgen, She seemed to be into it but i couldn't tell if she just thought he was funny or if she actually liked him. He was shorter than Chris but still around average height, He was more blockish than Chris and had a bit of muscle to him. The most notable thing about his face is that he had piercing blue eyes, which he was quite proud of.

Once we all sat down at the two picnic tables we were split into two groups. Morgen, Heath, Elanna, and Chris were at one table. Me, Devin, Hasidy, Thomas and Mikayla were at the other. "Hey guys I have an announcement!" Morgen spoke, standing on the table. "So I'm sure you've noticed that my cabin has gotten bigger.-" It was true, It was probably four times the size it was before but i figured she had renovated it with the raise she got from work. "-Well Now it has 6 bedrooms! And I'm inviting you all to stay for the summer!" We all got quite rowdy after that. We decided that me and Devin would share a room, and so would Mikayla and Elanna and Heath and Christopher. Leaving Hasidy, Morgen and Thomas with their own rooms. We started moving our things into our rooms and by the time we all finished it was night time and we finished snacking on burgers from before.

"Welp. Who's ready to swim?"
