I stared at her blankly, I was in trouble? Honestly I was more concerned than I was surprised by what she had said. However, Madam Luna didn't say anything after her statement instead she stood and went into the kitchen, eerily quiet.
My eyes shifted towards Istvan, who was still staring off into the distance but meet my eyes at the last moment. His green eyes were pale as he offered me a smile.
"Istvan," Madam Luna poked her head back into the room and waved for him to follow her, her eyes had returned to their normal crystal blue color. Which he did, leaving me alone in the living room.
Moments later they reappeared, Istvan was carrying a cloth covered mirror which he set down on the other side of the table that was in front of me. Madam Luna poured salt, rice, and lavender around the mirrors base and unclothed it. She then waved for me to come join her in front of the mirror.
Hesitantly I did, unsure of what would happen and, remembering Istvan's warning, I looked at him for reassurance. This time his green eyes were vibrant as he looked at Madam Luna.
"No worries child, I am here." She interlaced our fingers and gave me a thin lined smile. "Just breath and look." She waved her hand in front of the mirror.
The mirror, which was surrounded by blackened wood that was etched with swirls and feathers, began to wobble. It continued to wobble until my reflection appeared, staring at me.
However nothing happened and we stood there staring at the mirror together.
"Strange," Madam Luna sighed. "This worked with Istvan's spirit."
"Spirit?"
"Well you see the mirror is a doorway to another side," Madam Luna explained as she took a seat again. "We, as mortals, can't see through to the other side. However, you and Istvan can."
"What does that make us?"
"I'm not entirely sure," Madam Luna admitted with a shrug. "I've read some on it, there isn't much on it, and there are several things that are possible." Something flicked in the corner of my eye and, taking my eyes off Madam Luna, I turned back to the mirror. Had my reflection moved or were my eyes just playing with me?
"What about the side effects?" Istvan spoke up finally, he had taken a seat on the love seat and was intensely looking at Madam Luna. "You mentioned side effects last time we spoke."
"Sensitivity, pains, all of what you both are feeling. As far as I know," Madam Luna said then added, "I've found that blood is also something that caused discomfort."
"Blood burns," I mumbled while keeping my eyes glued to my hands as I took a seat next to Istvan, I had experienced that many times before.
"So does steel," Istvan added, placing a hand on top of mine.
Madam Luna quickly left the room then appeared with a golden notebook and took some notes. She continued this for a while until she suddenly looked up, almost surprised and awkwardly smiled.
"Don't you two need to get home?"
Istvan stood, "Yes. Thank you Madam Luna," He held his hand out to me, which I took slightly confused but followed him outside and through the mazed yard.

Once we were in the car silence settled in and it stayed that way into Istvan pulled into my driveway. After he put the car into park he turned towards me with a weak smile.
"How are you?"
Glancing at him I laughed slightly, "Well, no matter how many questions get answered, more appear." Our eyes meet for a moment longer until I turned away. "I'm sure Dylan appreciates you helping me."
"I didn't do it for Dylan" Istvan said plainly as he rubbed his eyes then turned back towards me. His mouth opened for a moment, almost like he wanted to say something then he shut it and unlocked the car door. "See ya later."
"See ya," I climbed out of the car then paused for a moment and turned back into the car. "Thanks for today, by the way."
He nodded at me then waited until I reached the front door to drive off.
Once inside I collapsed into bed, not even bothering to remove my boots and fell into a deep sleep.
However, it was not peaceful.
