A week later, Wonwoo missed school again. But this time he didn't get to stay home. He watched the steady drip of transparent liquid in the IV, eyes following the line down to where it dragged on the ground and back up to where it rested on the edge of the bed and went into his arm. The door creaked open, but he didn't turn his head.
"Mingyu asked where you were." Soonyoung's echoed slightly from the hallway and the smell of alcohol wipes and medicine drifted into Wonwoo's room. The door closed again and Soonyoung strolled over to other side of the bed, forcing Wonwoo to look at him. "I told him you were okay but you hadn't fully recovered from your 'cold'." He waited for a response.
"Thanks," Wonwoo murmured.
"No, not thanks." Soonyoung crossed his arms. "I had to lie, you know I hate lying."
"But you did it anyway so thanks."
Soonyoung let out an exasperated sigh. "That's not the point. You like Mingyu and you shouldn't be lying to him and I shouldn't have to lie to him. He's going to find out soon--"
"Yes, soon," Wonwoo interjected. "But not now."
"I hope you're not making a mistake," Soonyoung said and turned to walk out the door, then paused. "Friends don't tell you you're doing the right thing when you're not, they tell you when you're about to mess up. Remember that." Then Wonwoo heard the door click softly as Soonyoung closed it, footsteps echoing in the hallway and fading out slowly.
(Sorry for the short updates, I just wanted to get something up because I haven't done anything in a long time.)
