( ^^ the youtube link is Beyond by Matthew Mayor. It fills me with this strange sort of melancholic nostalgia; beautifully sad. )
Sitting here all alone
I cannot help but wander far from home
To what they call the land of rainbows
Where the rivers in my eyes first learned to flowYet a place filled with a strange sweetness it was
A place where I did not feel my flaws
I guess
The land of oblivion it wasBut oblivion is bliss, they say
Perhaps that is why I am traversing back there today
In hopes to relive a beautiful dream
To watch the sunlight make the blue waves gleamI stand there and feel the fresh breeze blow across my face
My demons are gone without a trace
And just like that
A happy smile starts to bloom across my faceI gaze with wonder from afar
At the midnight blue sky sprinkled with thousands of dazzling stars
I feel the freedom surging through my veins
But — alas! — something interrupts this trip down memory laneLike a flash of lightening reality strikes
And the deceiving mirage dissipates before my eyes
And I realise
I am still sitting here all alone
