You paint my world In the most breathtaking of shades Blue, pink, green, yellow, red You brighten my days
Whenever I see you My troubles just seem to slip away You hand me true joy Like beautiful roses in a bouquet
In the depth of my heart These enthralling emotions lay Pulsating alongside my heartbeat, they sound Just like that captivating music you play
But the moment you stand up And gently look at me and say "May I take my leave?" I close my eyes and pray
That I will somehow manage To keep my feelings at bay So many things I want to tell you Thoughts I don't know how to convey
I don't want you to go But there is no other way I just smile and nod "Of course you may!"
When you are gone I allow my thoughts to wander astray Thinking that some day, I will work up the courage And ask you to stay
For just a little while longer.

this poem is rather close to my heart because not only is it one of the first poems I ever wrote, it was also the original inspiration for my book Up, Up and Away. the actual story ended up being quite different, I guess, because naturally I chickened out from writing all this romantic fluff xD
