Chapter 5: Anomaly

We were adrift in space. I could barely keep my eyes open but I could clearly see that our lions had been separated. A saw a lone ship, it looked white and gray, it looked. . .Altean. I was so sore, I could barely move or speak. "A-Ameth-thyst," I whispered with a hoarse voice. The ship was getting closer. Another two ships jumped out of hyperspace, their color schemes being different. "Am-Amethyst. . .wa-wake up." A tractor beam began pulling us into the ship. I closed my eyes and fell back asleep, not having any strength left to hold my eyes open.

"I'm not sure where they came from, we've been monitoring the anomaly for a little over a year now and something finally happened." I heard a man say. I opened my eyes just barely. The room was bright and I was laying on a bed.

"Where am I?" I wearily said trying to sit up.

The man grabbed my shoulders and lightly pushed me back down. "Shh, you're in good hands. I know you're confused, so are we," he comfortingly says as a Nalquodian woman enters the room. "Could you help us?" I nodded slightly. "Where are you from?"

"I'm from Ceiana," I said and he immediately gave me a confused look. "What?" I slowly became more awake.

"Ceiana was destroyed by the Galra decades ago," He tells me. I was extremely confused now. There was loud commotion from the other room. "I'll be right back." The man and woman rushed out of the room. I looked around only to see Zafarian technology and colors all around the room. I freaked out and grabbed my bayard from the table next to me. I ran out of the room and formed my whip, flinging it around the room. I stunned one of the officers but stopped when I looked to the left of me. An Altean doctor entered the room. He walked over to a Zafarian doctor and shook his hand.

"Renn," Harper says coming out of the room next to mine. "What's going on?"

I shook my head. "I don't know."

The doctor from earlier came over to me. "What're you doing?" He asked, looking at my bayard. I retracted the whip. "You need to go lay back down."

"Not until you tell us what's happening." I say grabbing Harper's hand.

"Well first of all, your butt hangs out of that gown," he tells me with a slight blush sweeping across his cheeks. "So you probably shouldn't stay out here too long. Second of all, we've been monitoring an anomaly in space for a year and two months now, and finally, something happened. A few hours ago, a portal or rift of some sort opened up and dropped you guys here in the Voltron lions, which. . ." he trailed off.

"Which what?" Harper questions him.

"Which the Galra have. . .and have had for decades. So my question is, who are you guys and where did you come from? Because the energy reading we got from the anomaly was something of a large scale quintessence spill. Nothing that would happen from a hyperdrive mishap." He says.

"My name is Renn Avori. I don't know where we are or what's going on. So that's fun, right?" I say sarcastically. He giggled at my sarcastic comment. I lightly smiled. Amethyst entered the room, pushing a Zafarian to the ground and wailing on him. I reached out my hand, a purple beam of magic firing out, knocking her against the wall. I paused and looked at my hands in shock. "What. . .what is happening?" I shouted running over to Amethyst to calm her.

"Renn, what's going on? Where are we?" Amethyst yells at me.

"Shh, look. I don't know where we are, but obviously, the Zafarians here aren't a threat. Now, come on." I grabbed her and pulled her over to the doctor.

"I know someone that can help you figure out what's going on," The doctor says. We were taken to the bridge. We entered to be met with a long gray-haired woman and a black-haired man. They turned to face us. "This is Princess Allura of Altea and Royal Knight and former Black Paladin Takashi Shirogane."

"Pr-Princess Allura? Wh-what's going on?" Harper asks them. Shiro approached us and shook my hand. My mouth was still dropped to the floor.

"I-I uh, I think I know what's going on. You're the Black Paladin, but so is Zarkon," he rubbed the back of his neck. How is he so young? Wouldn't he be really old? "We've only seen this type of anomaly once before."

"What Shiro is trying to say is," Allura paused, holding her hands together, "you're from a different reality." My eyes widened and I began to choke on the air I was breathing.

"You mean. . .there's no way to communicate with anyone back in our reality? No way to see them? No way. . .to help them?" Amethyst questions. Allura slowly shook her head.

Shiro grabbed me by my arms and held me still. "What's happening to him?" He shouted. The room started darkening and getting lighter in a continuous cycle.

"He's having a panic attack. He gets them when he's under great stress." Amethyst tells them. I couldn't breathe and could barely see. I reached and touched Shiro's cheek, just before the room became black and I fell forward into Shiro's arms.
