"Hey Cassandra! Get up! Why are you sleeping?"

I hear a familiar voice of Paige echoing through the hallway.
I open my eyes, rubbing them vigorously.

"You were supposed to take care of the kids while we were gone." Paige mutters dissatisfied.

"I did. I just thought of catching a few winks before they woke up. I made them fall asleep." I answer back.

I turn my head towards the door as I hear Miss Lovelady bustling in with big bags in her hand. I rush up to help her.

"Are you alright Miss Doris?" I ask, concerned when i see her frail hands quivering.

"I'm perfectly fine child. Paige offered to help before, but I didn't let her as my weak hands needed a bit of an exercise."

Doris Lovelady is something else.

Smirking, I shake my head and carry the bags to the living room.

Paige turns to me, "Get ready at seven. We will go to the fair together. Bring your invitation card along with you."

I didn't want to go.

Fair.

Social gatherings.

Too many people.

Introversion kicks in.

"Umm, about that.......will it be a problem if I don't go?" I take my chances.

Paige looks at me, widening her eyes.
She is about to say something when her mother cuts her in.

"What is this nonsense! Of course Cassandra, you have to come. No is never an option here. You are invited. You come. No questions. Besides, who knows? You might have fun! Tourists are not allowed in this particular private beach fair. Consider yourself lucky that you got an invite."

Apparently, beach fairs are a big deal to them. Well wow.

Paige pulls me to a corner and starts giggling. I frown at her sudden mood change.

"Paige? What's up?" Seeing her giggling like a three year old cracks me up. I start laughing too.

She motions me to come closer.
"I have heard that this time, in the fair, The Lexstars are also appearing."

"The Lexstars?"

She gives me a seriously do you live under a rock look.

"The Lexstars are a group of boys....men...a bit of both really who dominate this place. They are also a sort of local rock band, nothing famous, but a BIG deal here. Girls go crazy over them and why not? Each and every one of them is swoonworthy." She gushes, looking dreamy.

I smirk. " You are going to the fair because of them?"

She blushes. "Mainly. Peter, one of the boys there knowns me."

I wiggle my eyebrows. "Really?"

"I mean, sort of. We had a small conversation a few days back when I saw him at the mall."

I think I know where this is going.

"And what conversation did you have with him? Care to enlighten me?"

She looks down at her feet and says somewhat meekly, "I asked him for his autograph and he said 'sure girl!'"

I throw my head back and laugh like a choked raccoon.

"Whhaaat! Y-yoou call that a conversation?" I somehow manage to say between my laughter.

Paige blushes uncontrollably. "Shut up !" She mumbles defenseless.
