*a few small inconsistencies.*
Frost angrily bit at the small students who braved the outside area. Scotland was as cold to the students just as the year before had been. Lessons began but too many students didn't seem to begin learning at the same time. "Mathew. Don't get me wrong, you are smart, but 'wignham' is so very clearly not going to make the feather raise. Besides you are not swishing and flicking, you are marking a line. Do it again and you will get repetitive strain injury." Her small girlish giggle at the end gave away her true intentions as her feather was firmly above the girl's silver hair. "Well, I am not the love child of an old wise man." His quirked brown eyebrow rose then dropped as the lesson ended with the sound of a bell. "Already done my homework." Islay jokingly bragged as she walked faux smug written all over her countenance. Mat stood to her right as the rest of the class left ahead of the pair. "Transfiguration next." Mat winked and linked his arm with hers. "Professor McGonagall is yet to let us try any really hard incantations." His attempt at a brag was downtrodden when Islay responded "yet you still have not completed one successfully."
The castle seemed to shake as yet more lessons were completed by the students. The entrance to their lessons seemed to be a challenge for some of the smaller ones as they got lost with older students. "How well do you know her?" Mat asked gesturing to the woman stood ahead of them. "Not well at all really." He nodded and a smirk took his features. "Mr Collins. I would ask that you silence yourself." His face sheepishly turned down but still the smirk remained.
It took a second and then suddenly numberless balls of paper flew to her desk and two hands raised to hips as annoyance flickered across the old woman's face. Laughter filled the room as the entire desk was covered, up to the ceiling and the laughing didn't even stop when the paper disappeared again. "Mr Collins and Miss Dumbledore, stay after class. Ten points from Gryffindor, each." Wide eyes met Mat but his eyes stayed firmly ahead of him at the old woman. Black shoes with thick soles came onto Mat's foot and he had to suppress the desire to make anymore issues. The lesson seemed to be far more boring than before as the pair tried not to do something against the other. There was clear and obvious annoyance leaking from the small Dumbledore. "You are dead meat." Islay subtly spoke and his entire body heated up and it was felt clearly by his desk partner. The professor had overheard it all and kept the smirk from her face. McGonagall looked from the corner of her eye as the pair worked on the assessment.
It took a while but the bell sounded and the students scurried to leave but two remained behind. "Now, Miss Dumbledore and Mr Collins, what do you have to say for yourselves?" Islay reminded silent hoping to not lie and take responsibility so willingly. "I did it Professor. Izzy was just an innocent bystander." The dark eyebrow rose and lowered again. "Is this true?" The question was clearly directed at the young girl but silver hair only sheepishly nodded in reply. "Very well, ten points will be added onto Gryffindor house but Mr Collins you shall be serving detention with Mr Filch during dinner tonight. Off you go." The two didn't need to be told twice as their bodies left the room as quickly as humanly possible.
"Well, I have detention in five." Islay nodded and as Mat thought some more his mind was too occupied to even notice Islay leaving his side. Her small steps echoed down the hall but halted when a voice spoke clearly. "Islay. Where are you going?" Minerva was stood in the dimly lit hall as she watched the focus of her attention avoid any kind of eye contact. "The toilet, Professor." Footsteps moved from Islay and so her journey carried on to the tiled space. When Islay brought her thoughts to reality close soft sobs left the room from one of the stalls. "Hello?" Moaning Myrtle floated with a sinister smile on her face "she has been here for a while. Miss Granger seems somewhat, upset." The crude tone sent shivers down Islay's spine but not once did it show. "Hermione. What happened? Let me in." The stall door swung open slowly with a violent creak from the hinges. "What happened?" Frizzy brown hair smothered Islay as the stall door was finally closed and locked again. A hug was ensued and all air left Islay's lungs. The embrace was returned not quite as strongly but reassurance and comfort was given to Hermione. Pale, almost white eyes shot open quickly when loud steps shook through the room and odd noises occasionally erupted. Wide pale eyes emerged from the door as fear caused Islay to check on their surroundings. Not seeing anything Islay left the safety of the stall but eyes went wide when a troll took over the sight of the first year. No warning or words of explanation came as the club swung and the student was slammed against the wall.
Screams came and so did occasional shouts but they were heard as mumbles due to consciousness slowly slipping from the students just as quickly as Islay's blood was slipping from her. The cold floor beneath Islay became warm as a viscose liquid claimed the tiles and shr found comfort from the warmth momentarily. Islay found her mind fogging up and thoughts slipping away from her as well as the feeling of her surroundings. Blackness numbness was all that her senses could manage to handle.
The fog began clearing and so did the numb feelings. A shooting pain ran through her mind as well as the images of a troll's club flying at her as well as the large features of the beast. White met pale blue as eyelids moved open and a flustered Poppy was stood there tapping her foot. "Madam Pomfrey?" The question fell and soon the young girl was suddenly being sat up and forced to face the adults. "What happened truthfully? I do not believe Miss Granger one bit." Courage fled from Islay as she kept her eyes to the bed. "I was in a cubical and heard something. I went to check and then the troll had hit me." Choosing to forget about her friend in the cubical with her Islay hoped for it to be enough. "I see." Disappointment was almost hidden in the disbelieving voice. "Madam Pomfrey, I have a really bad headache." Eyes pinched closed as light was kept from the aching eyes. "It really hurts." There weren't even any footsteps heard but a glass vial met pale lips and swiftly it was drank as the viscous liquid was allowed to flow down the small throat. "Get some rest." A tired nod came as the young student slipped back under the thin material on the bed and eyes slipped across eyelids once again.
Voices that seemed to be an attempted whisper but just came out as shouted whispers were heard from the foot of the bed. "She is waking up." The voices stopped and four pairs of eyes looked on at the girl in the bed. "Mathew." It was weak but it was clear that sleep had claimed the frail voice rather than anything else. Strong arms took to her waist as Islay managed to sit up. "Look, Islay, I, we, we are sorry." The confused sentence caused a smile to spread and Islay let her left arm greet the three. Hermione seemed to have perked up as she joined in willingly. "Now, I am not really one for hugs so don't think I will do that ever again." The joke and also seriousness was thick in the melodic voice.
Madam Pomfrey left the confines of her office and looked up momentarily but looked down once again. The paperwork was clearly important and the words were written so precisely as each line fit a set amount of characters each. "Can I leave now Madam Pomfrey?" Taking a second to ponder it the healer agreed hesitantly and let the group all leave together. The dark sky showed the lateness of the whole situation but the Halloween decorations showed that the day had not been wasted. Islay figured that only a few hours may have been lost for the day.
