long road to recovery

After several tests for most of the morning the doctors were astonished on how I just woke most convinced it wasnt going to happen. Even though I was awake the doctors assured the recovery would be a long difficult process. It was early evening when my room started to flood with visitors after I was moved from ICU to a regular unit room. Jon and Harley as well as Kay was the first to make it to the hospital that evening. They walked in to find me sitting up in the bed, still obviously attached to several diffrent machines but I was awake and in fairly good spirits and a obvious expression of relief on Joey's face. "lil bit""baby moms""hey guys" and just as I said those words with a smile on my face both Harley and Jon broke down as they hugged me. "Darling""Ma" just the sight of Kay and I broke down which caused her to do the same. "I knew you come back that you werent going to leave Joesph or those babies" she whispered in my ear as she cried hugging moving over to Joey next. Over the next hour my room filled up Donnie and Jenny and Danny arrived next, Jenny bringing me flowers and food knowing exactly how bad hospital food was. Betty,Momma Marlene, as well as Jordan and Steph all rolled in. The room became so packed there wasnt much room for anything else. Hospital staff seemed to look passed it knowing the policy was only supposed to be two people at a time not including Joey. Just as everyone was gathered talking and getting updates on how I was a comforting sight in the form of a 6'4 280 pound bodyguard  walked through my door. " Lil mama" "BIG B!!!!" Biscuit quitely walked through the door. "B get your ass in here", he walking in hesently carrying a huge flower arrangement and a teddybear."B get your ass over here and give me a hug", Biscuit walked over and carefully leaned down wrapping me in a hug, his hugs were always just so comforting and it hasnt changed as a tear slid out my eye. He leaned against the counter and asked the one question Im sure everyone including Joey was wondering but no one had asked, " So lil mama do you remember anything?" "I remember leaving in the morning for donuts and coffee and when I pulled out and started driving someone sped up behind me, so I got off on the off ramp and I felt my bumper get hit. The next thing I remember is  the car flying down the embankment and it flipped at the bottom, my phone was so close I keep thinking if I could only reach it I could call Joey and get help then everything went black". Tears slide down Joeys cheek and he slides into the bed with me wrapping his arms around me when he sees me choking up. " I remember hearing everyone talking to me and all the doctors around me and I kept screaming but no one heard me." I was full blown crying and I bury my face into Joey's chest. A short while later Doctor Wong entered the room " Well there is my star patient, looks like you have a lot of love here with you tonight""I do, this is all my family this is Donnie,Jordan and Jon and their mom Marlene Danny and his mom Betty. This is Harley Jons partner and this is Steph and Jenny Jordan and Donnies girlfriends. Big man in the corner is my big protector Biscuit." " Well thats alot of love and I know thats important for your recovery but I have to ask that everyone leave we need to run some tests""alright""Ill give you all a few more minutes, someone will be down to take you for a catscan, Joe Im sure you'll be staying""Im not leaving you kidding me" with a chuckle Doctor Wong says " I dont know why I even said anything I knew you wouldnt go anywhere." "Not a chance",with hugs and kisses everyone headed out except Kay and Joey. Once I was down having my Catscan Kay and Joey headed down to the hospital Cafe to grab a coffee knowing it would be awhile before I was back to my room.

Kay and Joey walked into the dimly lit cafe and ordered their coffee's before taking a seat in a quite secluded area in the back of the cafe. "So Joesph with all this excitement you never did tell me how Lee woke up""I was just talking to her and I ended up singing Where do I go from here, you know thats her favorite""I know""Well I laid my head down and drifted off apparently I was woken up by her calling my name and her hand slid over to mine.""You know this is god answering prayers right""I know it is mama, Doctors said I was going to have to make some decisions soon, I have no idea how I was supposed to do this without her,the kids just everything. She has been my everything for so I long I couldnt face the possibility of actually loosing her.""Well now we dont have to worry about that, I told you she can hear us and she was going to fight like hell""she always been a fighter. She going to have a long road ahead of her though""I know, but if anyone is going to make it through this its her.""I know mama""Joesph how do you feel about bringing the kids up tommorow, they havent seen their momma in almost a month""I think its just what she needs" he said as the smile crossed his face and a slight twinkle flashed in his eye. "If you want Ill come sit with her besides Alma and Paul have wanted to come up and see her and you can pick the kids up from school and bring them up""I dont know mama you know I hate leaving her""I know but she is awake and doing well it will do you good to get out of this hospital for a bit,you havent left here but to see the kids and grabbing clothes changes""I guess your right."
