Ship: Jachary
Zach Herron walked down the sidewalk of his local park, the leaves crunching underneath his feet as he made his way down the paths.
The 16 year old walked to a small bench in the middle of the park. The blue lake sat in front of him, reflections of the fall colored trees in it.
He sat on the bench, coffee in hand and a big smile plastered on his face. He sipped the hot liquid while staring up at the late afternoon sky.
He stared at the ducks that grazed around the water, watching as they made noises and waddled onto the grass.
He sighed and stood up, tossing the empty coffee cup into the trash can next to him.
He stuck his hands in his coat pockets after tightening his scarf slightly. He walked up the path once more before pulling out his cellphone and snapping a few pictures.
He felt a tap on his shoulder and turned around. A short young man his age stood there with a smile. "I think I lost my number... can I have yours?" He said. Zach chuckled and pulled out his phone, leaving the shorter boy with a shocked face.
"R-really?" He asked, pulling out his own phone and handing it to Zach. He shrugged and smiled at the boy. "I'm Zachary Dean." He smiled. "J-jack. Jack Avery ." The curly haired boy stuttered. Zach typed his number in quickly with a toothy grin.
"So..." Jack asked as they walked down the pathway littered with fallen leaves. "Where are you from Jack Avery." Zach smiled at the ground. "Pennsylvania." He said. "Nice. I'm from Dallas." Zach said. "What're you doing here in Salt Lake City?" Jack asked Zach. "I graduated early and decided to move here for two years. The fall and winter really got to my photography vibes" Zach said, a voice crack interrupting the sentence making the shorter boy laugh again.
"I'm a singer. I book Local coffee shops and festivals." Jack said. "I'd love to hear you sing sometime." Zach said as he stopped in front of his car. "Maybe you could come by my gig tonight." Jack said and handed him a paper with an address and a time. Zach suck it in his pocket. "I'll be there" he said before waving at Jack and climbing into his car.
Jack waved at the boy as he drove off in his red Camaro. He sighed and smiled widely and walked to his motorcycle. He climbed on and roared the engine before zooming off down the road.
Zach never had a thought that maybe Jack was trying to kidnap him. After all he gave him a random address and a time that was after dark. But Zach didn't sweat it. He could tell Jack was sweet.
~3 hours later~
Zach stood at his closet very frustrated. After and hour he still hadn't found a good outfit to wear to the curly haired boys gig at the coffee shop.
"Perfect" He said while grabbing a plain white hoodie and a green and white wind breaker. He pulled out black skinny jeans and a pair of doc martins.
His back pack sat by the door, so he grabbed it and threw his phone charger, wallet, and a bag of family size Cheetos into it. "Ready." He sighed while walking out of his apartment. He ran down the hallway to the stairs, sprinted down them and ran to the car garage, quickly finding his car.
He glanced at the clock. "6:02." He breathlessly whispered. He turned the key and zoomed out of the parking lot and down the crowded streets of Salt Lake City.
"Sugar house coffee?" He asked staring down at the paper. A huge sign came into view with sugar house coffee spray painted on it. "Oh god what've I gotten myself into." Zach murmured as he pulled into the coffee shop. The inside was covered in fake plants and some real ones accompanied by a aesthetic amount of furniture.
A small stage was set up in the middle of the shop. A small stool with a microphone in front of it sat alone on the wooden stage. People started walking through the doors and finding tables, so Zach stood where he was most visible. The back where he was the only one standing. He leaned against the wall and watched as Jack climbed up the stairs and sat on the stool, guitar in hand.
"Hope everyone's having a wonderful evening." He hummed as he strummed a few cords on his guitar. He scanned the room and locked eyes with Zach, a large smile growing on his face. If he was being honest, he didn't think Zach would show up.
"What do you say we get started." Jack yelled. Everyone in the crowd around the stage cheered loudly.
"Met you on a Friday, saw you lookin my way, pretty as a picture you don't even know." Jack sang beautifully into the microphone while staring into Zach's brown eyes. "In that little red dress made me loose my senses, I just can't believe that you didn't know." He sang.
Zach looked at the boy in a new perspective. The truth was, Zach wasn't just crushing on Jack. He was falling for him. He was falling hard. He stared as Jack continued to sing.
"That I wanted your love, I wanted your heart, I wanted you to be something that you aren't, I wanted your attention I forgot to mention that I should've said..." He strummed his guitar while letting out beautiful notes.
"Hey, doing alright? The weather outside is lookin pretty nice. Hey, would you mind? If you're not to busy can we hang out tonight?" Jack belted out loudly but gracefully, staring Zach in the eyes again.
"Cause I want your love, I want your heart, I don't want you to be something you aren't." Jack said. "Cause you're the only think I need..." He strummed. "In summer 16." He finished.
The crowd cheered and clapped loudly and threw cash and flowers on the stage. Jack blushed as he stood up and bowed before rushing off the stage and setting his guitar on the couch.
Zach rushed to backstage to see Jack before he left. He walked in searching around for Him before hearing a yelp from down the hallway. He sprinted all the way to the small green room. Jack was sitting on the couch staring at his finger. "Are you okay?" Zach heaved out. "My guitar pinched me." Jack chuckled. "How'd you get back here?" Jack said, standing up to meet Zach face to face.
"I told them I was your boyfriend." Zach blushed. "I'd love if you were." Jack said, turned away from Zach putting his guitar in it's case. Zach raised an eyebrow. "So..." Jack said standing up. Brown met brown as he stared into his eyes. "Would you maybe go out with me?"Jack stuttered.
Zach looked at the ground, his cheeks becoming crimson. "Of course I will." Zach said. Jack smiled and with one hand grabbed Zach's hand, his guitar in the other. He pulled Zach down the hallways and to the street where his motorcycle sat.
Jack tossed a helmet at Zach, who immediately put it on and snuggly buckled the strap. Jack clipped his guitar case to the back of the motorcycle and climbed on, Zach following.
"Hold on tight." Jack told Zach. He wrapped his arms around Jacks waist. They revved up the engine and sped out of the parking spot.
The two drove down the streets of Los Angeles as the sunset began, their hair blowing in the wind. One thing Zach's mother had always told him was "Don't watch the sunset with someone who won't be there by sunrise." But Zach knew that Jack would be there for tomorrow's Sunrise, and every sunrise for the rest of their lives.
That night the two fell for each other, falling like October Leaves.
