905 AM

"Guys?" I hear Jess calling from the other couch as I blink away the secondary buzz.

"Hell! Let them sleep! Jesus Christ alive!" I hear George say.

Nick gets up and his stirring forces me to get up too. The bar looked totally different now.

Look; I'm an alcoholic, but George is a professional. He managed to clean the whole bar room without waking us up.

"Let's go back to my house and sleep, like all day." Jess moaned from her couch. It was a great idea.

Nick threw a hundred dollar bill on the bar and the three of us dragged ourselves out into the cold Vermont air.

We all ended up piling into my truck. Leaving Nicks and Jessica's car in the lot of the bar.
I was still buzzed.

I fished around my truck for my cigarettes, but Nick already had one for me. Good Boy.

We ended up back at Jessica's in one piece. We stumbled inside and I collapsed into a recliner, Jess disappeared into her bedroom and Nick dropped onto the couch.

It was well past noon when I finally got myself back to reality.
I sat at Jessica's coffee table with her and Nick. We all started laughing.

"That shit was unreal!" She laughed.

"You were on the floor, out!" Nick exclaimed

"Flynn was telling some poor lady his whole life story, the poor thing was trapped!" Jess laughed even harder. No recollection.

We all agreed it was an amazing night. Our hangovers were pretty mild.

"Lets do it again, tonight." Jess's tone was serious.

Nick looked over at me, his eyebrow raised and his half smile pushed me over the edge.

"Fuck it. I'm down." I agreed.

Even though things were so uncertain right now. Like Nick and myself had no solid place to live, and we're totally flying by the seat of our pants, I was the happiest I have ever been.
New town, new friends, new experiences.

I was living for the moment. I didn't care about anything, only making sure I never had to spend another day away from Nick.

We spent the majority of the rest of the day drinking water and listening to music. Preparing for another wild night.

"Hey guys, what even is the name of that bar?" I asked

"The Slippery Slope" Jess snorted

"Sounds like my life" Nick muttered.

"Stop it! At least you got me! Oh and Flynn..." she smiled.

We all took showers and prepared for another night.

"Let's get wine drunk tonight" Jess said as we all stood in the small bathroom mirror.

"Wine? What are we married hippie women from Long Island?" I piped in.

"Trust me, it's a good time"
Jess assured.
———

We walked in around 6pm, the blue collar crowed was in the bar.

It was like something out of a movie.
