Mistakes, everyone makes them, even the heroes. They will tell you mistakes are okay and that you learn from them, do not let it falter you. Dawn made a mistake, she instantly regretted lashing out at Robin the way she did. He was right, he had saved her from death. What was I thinking?! She sighed and pulled her mask off, slipping through the window and in her room. In shorts and a shirt, she hung the uniform in her closet and went to the bathroom to clean her wound. It wasn't large but it took a cotton pad to soak up the remaining blood and stitches to sew it up.

She had no idea how she was going to learn from her mistake. She was alone in the world and needed a friend but pushed him away. Sure, Robin could be a jerk and smartass at times, but he was looking out for her, especially tonight. Her computer dinged from the desk, an email notification popped on the screen. It was from the Gotham Police Department, notifying her that they reviewed her background and liked her skills.

"First days...tomorrow?!" Dawn stood from the chair and walked to the living room where Kitty was watching her show. "I'm back," Kitty smiled for a brief second before gluing her eyes on the screen. "Win me any cash?" She nodded, "I knew answers for four of the answers. The people on here are naive and losing their cash, though." Dawn laughed; the afternoon was spent eating ice cream and watching game shows.

Before Dawn even knew it, eyes were on her the following morning. Dick Grayson watched as the girl walked through the doors and over to the main desk. He found himself watching even more when the front desk lady greeted her with a smile and shook hands. Curiosity now had the best of him as he started for the stairs; "Detective Grayson, there's a call for you on line one." he nodded and turned back towards his desk,

"Well Dawn, I welcome you to Gotham's detective agency." Dawn was handed a stack of papers and a tag to wear around her neck that stated her name and what she was. An intern for the detective agency. She smiled back at the lady; directions were given to her, 'to the left, elevator or stairs, your desk is in row two'; she used them.

Overwelling emotions filled Dawn, she used the elevator and now looked around at the police and detectives at their desk doing work. She used to dream about it as a little girl, it almost didn't seem real; she even had paperwork to do! She kept her head down and read over the papers while she walked- not a really good choice. Somehow, she collided with the one and only detective Grayson. So much for the first impression.

The two stared hesitantly at each other, Dawn gripping the papers and Grayson studying her. He seemed so familiar, she shook the thought away and spoke up. "Oh- I...um...." She was a complete mess, especially when he said, "You've got to be kidding me."  She felt her cheeks redden, "Easy Dick," Detective Gordan appeared from behind her, "she's my new partner. You'll be seeing her often." he chuckled. "Dawn, this is Dick, er, excuse me, Detective Richard Grayson, whom you may call Dick. Dick, this is Dawn Morgan."

Dawn was thankful for how the mood lightened when Gordan made it a joke. "Yeah-um...nice to meet you.." She brushed her hair to the side. "Don't worry," Gordan sighed when Dick said nothing and walked away. "He's always in a mood. You'll get to know him." Dawn nodded and smiled, but deep down she couldn't stop thinking about how she felt like she already knew him.

"How you doin' kid?" Gordan asked, Dawn's finger's tapped against the desk she sat before. She blew a loose strand of hair from her face. "Okay, I guess." He nodded in understanding. "Don't worry, the others will warm up to you." Dawn nodded and flipped through the stack of papers, "What's this about?"

"It's a case we've been working on for weeks."

She gasped at the photos, "C-child abuse? She's only...twelve." a young girl was on the next page, her hair shaven and her face beaten. "This is sexual assault. Who would do this to their own child?"

"He's robbed the downtown bank and many others, too." Gordan scratched at his beard and sighed. "Figured rookies like you might be able to help us." The subject soon changed, "You go to school, right?"

"College." Dawn spun in the office chair, "I'm taking Forensic and FBI. That's what drew me to this job, more experience."

"Trust me, you'll get the hang of it."

The girl with dark blue hair roamed the streets at night. The darkness inside her was growing, she was getting more visions each day. The boy from the circus, the girl in the alley and the two birds. They were always bad and left her screaming, her mother would chain-lock her door and put up crosses. It never worked, the chain would snap and she would run straight towards the door. For some reason, she felt like she needed to find the two that were in her visions, the problem was how she would.

Her name was Rachel, the girl born with black and dark blue hair. She was the daughter of a demon and a human. She wondered if her mother knew he was a demon, the demon king, if she did, she wouldn't have been cursed with the powers growing inside. It angered her how he left her mother when she was young. Rachel, now thirteen, was living life scared and afraid of everything.

With her hood up, she walked on the sidewalk avoiding crowds and people. She had felt it wanting to come out, so she broke the chain and ran out of the house. Now she was trying to get it to calm down. Her hands shook when she held them up for her to see, her reflection showed a shadow of her with black eyes, "Let it out." it said in a raspy tone. Rachel shook her head and jerked away, quickly walking to the darker side of the street.

"No, no..no..." She breathed in and turned down a corner, the flickering street light making her feel more scared. When she was finally alone, she took a deep breath and pulled down her hood to brush some hair back. She wished life wasn't like this, she wished her mother wasn't afraid of her and she wished she had friends. She was alone and misunderstood in the cruel world.

"Well, well, well." A deep, rough voice said. Rachel looked up, a man approached from the shadows in all black. His face smiling. "Out a little late past bedtime I'd say." Rachel backed up with fear in her eyes, "S-stay away from me, please." The man laughed a dark, evil laugh, "I just wanna see you, you're so pretty.." he took a step and began walking near her. "I said s-stay away." Her voice shook, she held out a shaky hand. "What're you gonna do if I don't." It sounded like a dare instead of a question; the girl squeezed her eyes shut just as the car nearby suddenly shattered its windows, glass flung at the man.

Rachel ran, she ran out and on the sidewalk as fast as she could, not daring to look back. She collided with something and looked up to face an officer. "Y-you've got to help me, I-"

"Running from the law?" She gave a confused look. "You're the one breaking the windows. You're coming with me."
