The Talk

AN: Random side note, I have a page for Hannah up on the Pinterest now, so feel free to check that out.

"So, I don't know how much Raven told you about the school, but I figured we should talk about it anyway just in case you have any questions." Hazel said as she and Skie walked down the hall.

Skie nodded in understanding. "She told me a bit, and I read the packet, but I do have some questions."

Hazel nodded. "I can answer nearly anything...or I can make up an answer."

Skie grinned.

Hazel stopped before a door subtly marked D-LF. "Here, this is a good place to talk."

"What does DLF stand for?" Skie asked curiously.

"Discipline, Lower Females." Hazel said, then chuckled at the look on Skie's face. "Don't worry, you aren't in trouble."

Skie relaxed. "Ok." She smiled and followed Hazel inside.

Skie looked around at the room. The walls were a pretty tan color, and there were many cupboards and drawers along one wall. There was also a long brown couch.

Hazel smiled. "They did get a new couch. Good. The other one was getting annoying."

Skie walked into the room and sat on the couch. It was firm but comfortable. She drew her knees up to her chest and leaned back. Hazel joined her, tucking her legs to the side and also leaning back so she was looking Skie in the face.

"So, you've read the welcome packet and the handbook?"

Skie nodded.

"Ok, well then there probably isn't too much for me to go over. So what questions do you have?"

"First, why are you head girl? I mean, you were it last year, right?"

Hazel smirked. "Yeah, there should be some upper third giving you this talk. Unfortunately, that class proved...insufficient."

Skie raised her eyebrows. "All of them?"

"All but two, and neither wanted it. The school was going to force one of them, but since I'm a generally nice person and also have no life, evidently, I was made head girl for another year."

Skie smirked. "Did you really not want to do it?"

Hazel shrugged. "It comes with it's perks. I don't particularly enjoy the actual discipline part, but hey, what must be done must be done."

"Isn't that weird though? Punishing people you have classes with?"

Hazel nodded. "Yeah, there were some awkward moments. I usually tried to send girls in my grade to the headmistress. Fortunately, this year the senior head girl can take care of it."

Skie narrowed her eyes. "Did you ever have to punish my sister."

Hazel smirked. "That's for her to answer, if she chooses."

Skie smirked back, she took it as a yes. "So, I know that the rules are very clear and all, but how strict are you on following them?"

Hazel sighed. "I should say that I follow them exactly, but, sometimes people have a good reason for doing wrong things. So if you went out and punched someone for no reason and gave them a nosebleed, then yeah, you'd get 6 with the strap. But if they talked bad about your friends and threatened them, you'd still be a fault, but I'd probably lessen the punishment. That's the advantage of head students, we're just kids too. We get it."

Skie nodded, that sounded fair.

Hazel smiled. "So, if you ever need anything, feel free to come talk to me. That's why I'm here."

Skie grinned. "Will do."

Hazel got up. "Any more questions?"

Skie shook her head. "Not right now."

Hazel smiled. "Good. I'm always available to answer things...uh, within reason. Don't come talk to me at midnight unless it's an emergency."

Skie smirked. "I wouldn't."

Hazel smirked right back. "And don't come talk to Raven either."

Skie lost her smirk. "How did you...?"

Hazel grinned. "Hey, a bit of cunning never hurts when you're a head girl. Now come on, you should go change into your uniform for dinner. Not all the students are here yet, of course, but making a good first impression is always a good idea."

AN: Please leave a comment! For anyone confused, students who aren't borders (which is rare) or who live closer and can drop off their things come on Monday, the first day. People who live farther away, like Skie, come Sunday evening and sleep in the dorms. It makes sense in my head, ok?

Next up, dinner!
