9:10pm

To say that business was slow would be an understatement.

Not only had they done all of the cleaning that needed to be done for the shift, all of the prep was done.

That means that one of us will be able to go home early.

There was only 1 hour and 50 minutes of the shift remaining. And today, Caleb wasn't working with Alanna.

No. Today he was working with a broody teenage named Jackson. And Jackson not only missed two days of work this week, but he also didn't work much when he was working. He'd much rather laze around on his phone.

He was nice to the customers at least.

"Alright, kids ..." the manager - a fairly attractive male in his 20s - walked out of his office and towards the two men.

"Business is slow. I'm gonna have to send one of you home."

"Oh. Would you look at the time? It was nice working with you, Jackson. But I've got to get going." Caleb began to take off of my apron and name tag.

Must I mention that Caleb was now working overtime? Sure, he got paid extra for every hour he worked past his scheduled hours. But it was tiring.

AND HE DID ALL OF THE CLEANING AND PREPPING.

He was pooped.

How did he end up working overtime you ask?

Well because he worked on the days that Jackson called out.

"I'll see you guys next time I work."

And before anyone could reject, he clocked out and left.
