11:59pm
Caleb almost considered going back inside for Minho. He was taking too long. But then his phone rang.
And luckily, it was Minho. He'd just give him a piece of his mind over his phone.
"Minho, where the hell are you?"
"I was gonna call our driver to come pick us. But I had to make a pit stop to the bathroom."
That explained why it was bit quieter on his end.
"Should I just come back inside then?"
"No. I'll be out in a minute."
"Okay. Hurry up."
"No promises."
Then the line was cut.
Caleb sighed and shoved his phone in his pocket. And just as he looked back towards the club entrance, he saw the two big burly men from earlier approaching him.
Caleb gulped.
He knew Minho told him not to move. But if he knew that two huge men were after him, he'd understand, right?
Quickly, he snapped his gaze to his phone and acted as if he got a phone call. He held the phone up to his ear and began to walk away from the men.
Surprisingly, the streets were empty. And that added to the eerie feeling Caleb felt. Everyone was probably in that night club. Or in the restaurant across from the club.
Either way, no one was outside.
And Caleb swore he was gonna die because those guys were after him and-
"Excuse me."
"Ah!!!" Caleb screamed (yes, in a high-pitched tone) before taking off in a full sprint. He couldn't die now. He was too young. Too pretty. He didn't even put out his first single yet! No one would know he was gone.
He knew it was a stupid move, but he made a sharp turn into an alley and hid behind a large garbage bin, hoping and praying that the strangers didn't find him.
I shouldn't have left. I should've stayed in the club and waited for Minho. I'm a fucking idiot.
He tried to steady his heavy breaths so that they couldn't be heard. But he couldn't hear how loud they were due to the deafening thumping in his ears.
But he could hear that man's voice again.
"Excuse me, Mister! I saw you come in here! I just wanted to return your wallet."
Caleb felt around in the pockets of his denim jacket and sure enough, his wallet wasn't in there.
He peeked up over the side of the bin at the stranger, who showed him the wallet.
Due to the moonlight and the streetlights, he was able to clearly see the Iron Man print wallet.
"Oh." Now he felt stupid.
It looked like the same guy from a few moments ago. But Caleb could've sworn that there were two guys.
Or maybe that had just been the liquor ... making him see doubles.
"Thank you." He approached the stranger. "Sorry for running like a mad man. I was just a little spooked that's all."
"That's okay. If someone like me was after me, I'd be a little intimidated too." He flashed the boy a charming smile.
Caleb could've sworn this guy looked familiar. But between the alcohol still drifting around in his system and the adrenaline, he couldn't quite recall where he had seen him.
"So, what are you doing out here all buy yourself? Where's that guy you were with earlier?"
"You saw me?"
"How could I not? Almost everyone looked at you when you entered. Guess you're just that good-looking."
Caleb couldn't help but to blush a little before he felt his phone vibrate in his pocket. And pulled it out and looked at the caller ID.
"Ah. That guy I was with is actually calling me right now."
He offered the strange yet attractive man a smile before answering the phone.
"Minho?"
"Babe, where are you? I told you to stay where you were."
"Something happened. I got a bit spooked and-"
Caleb was cut off by something driving straight through his back, through his chest and out the other end.
He didn't know what it was. And he was afraid to look down.
The object (most likely a knife) was twisted around a few times before it was ripped out just as aggressively as it had been forced in.
Caleb fell to his knees, unable to speak.
Unable to hear Minho's voice calling out to him from his phone.
Unable to clearly hear what the voices before him were saying.
They were in a language he didn't understand. Yet he was familiar with it and was able to pick out a few words and endings.
Korean.
The world around him was nothing more than a blur. Like he had been submerged in the deepest waters known to man.
He always criticised those characters in movies who felt around on their chest or stomach after being shot or stabbed.
Clearly there'd be a hole. Why did you need to feel it?
But he guessed it was natural for someone to do that because here he was sticking his fingers into the gaping hole in his chest.
That's blood all right...
Caleb always despised the colour red.
He hadn't seen so much in one place since that incident with his parents years ago ... yet ...
He wasn't angry or unnerved...
He wasn't scared or anything...
He was just there.
Maybe this was how it was supposed to end up anyways. After all, he was just some crazy, worthless, cheating bastard.
He wouldn't amount to anything.
This way out was too easy. He should've been tortured and forced to beg for life.
He guessed that now he wouldn't get the chance.
He fell on to his back, his head landing right next to the feet of his murderer who surprisingly looked just like the dude who he had been talking to seconds ago.
The only difference was that this one wore a mask.
Hmm ... so there were two of them.
Caleb drew in a deep pained breath to the best of his ability before coughing and closing his eyes.
"The job is done?" Even if the voice wasn't speaking in a language he knew, he still recognised the voice as Minho's. And he wanted to open his eyes to see if it was true.
But he just felt so tired.
The men exchanged words for a few more moments. And Caleb could've sworn that he heard Yuno's voice somewhere in the mix before the noises were drowned out completely.
"This was for your own good, kid." Minho spoke before leaving, the other two strangers trailing behind him.
