Today was the day that I was finally moving to San Francisco. I was 24 years old and I had dropped out of college when I did the unthinkable. It had been five months since the incident although it felt like it had only happened yesterday. I picked up the last box shaking the unsettling feeling from my body. I closed the door to my apartment then sat down on the couch in the middle of the room. I was exhausted from moving all of those boxes. I was starting to fall asleep just sitting there. I got up even though my body was protesting. I grabbed the scissors out my bag then walked over to one of the boxes. I figured it would be a good idea to unpack as many boxes as I could before I went to sleep. Although it was only around two o'clock in the afternoon I could totally go to bed right now. For some reason as I unpacked each box my mind kept going back to that horrid day. The day that I wanted no one to know about. It was a chilly autumn morning the leaves on the tree outside my room had started to fall. I had waken up a bit earlier than usual, but I didn't mind. I got into the shower then put on a creme sweater and some leggings. I left my house then walked to the farmers market that wasn't that far away. I was greeted by one of the nice ladies. I had learned their names from coming there so often. I grabbed some fresh fruit then headed home. I unlocked the door then went into the kitchen. I was putting the fruit away when I heard a loud thud come from up stairs. Unfortunately I was the only one home at the time. I grabbed a kitchen knife then went slowly up the stairs. I opened each door looking into the room then continued on. The last room in the hall was my own. I held the knife tightly as I turned the door knob. Suddenly I was grabbed from behind a hand was clasped over my mouth and the knife that was once in my hand was now against my throat. I tried not to struggle too much because I didn't want to get cut. When the attacker relaxed a little he took me to my room then tied me to my office chair with rope. I couldn't see my attacker's face because of a strange looking mask. I noticed two different colored eyes and that their hands were burnt. They gagged me then left the room thankfully they had spilled over my supplies when they were trying to tie me up. I was able to sink down in the chair far enough to grab the scissors that had fallen on the floor. Before they could get back I opened the scissors then started to cut the ropes. I had finally cut the ropes off when I heard them coming up the stairs. I grabbed the scissors then hid in the closet I know that would be the first place that the intruder would look when he notices that I'm gone. They walked in then looked around the room then they stomped out. I was surprised that they didn't look around my room. Either they're tricking me into coming out or they are just really bad at doing this. Either way I wasn't sure if I should come out, but I took a risk and stepped out of the closet. I waited for them to return to my room before I made my move. I took the scissors that were in my had and jabbed them into their neck. I could see blood starting to come from the black hoodie they were wearing. I stood there watching as they bled out. I know I could have helped or walked away as they laid there dying, but I couldn't move. I wanted to look away, I tried so hard to look away. Instead I stood there watching the light start to drain from their eyes. When they were dead and no more blood was coming out I removed the mask to see a white male maybe about 35 with one blue eye and one brown eye. He also has blonde hair after I got a good look at his face I decided that I needed to clean up the mess and get rid of the body. I got a large trash bag then shoved his body into it. I dragged the bag to the backyard where I dug a hole near the oak tree in the yard. The hole was deeper than what I needed, but it wasn't bad. I pushed the bag into the hole then started replacing the dirt. It took some time to finish filling up the hole, but it was finally done. I went inside then grabbed my keys I got into my car then drove to the closest store. I grabbed some towels then some cleaning supplies. The cashier looked at me funny. "Oh, don't worry we just ran out of a few things while cleaning a ladies house nearby." She nodded her head then continued to scan each item. I got home then started cleaning the blood from my room. Thankfully that was the only place that there was any blood. After I finished cleaning I grabbed another bag filling it with the bloody towels then threw it into the trash can. For a person who had just killed someone I was surprisingly calm. I had just sat down when my brother got home. I was getting up to go greet him when I noticed the guy's mask had gotten tucked under my bed. I mentally slapped myself for forgetting that simple mistake. I shoved it further under my bed not wanting anyone to notice it. I walked down stairs I saw my brother in the kitchen. "Hey Josh," I said sitting down at the bar. "Hey (y/n), how was your day?" He asked picking up one of the apples I had gotten at the farmers market. "It was good. How about you?" I asked and he shrugged his shoulders while taking a bite of the apple. I snapped back to reality seeing that I only had one more box to unpack. Thankfully it was just my clothes so it didn't take long. After that day back at home I've had this urge to keep killing. I know it's not right, but it gets so hard to fight sometimes. It was finally getting closers to night time so I decided to go get some food. I walked to a market that was close to the apartment. I walked in grabbing some tater tots and a can of soup. I had noticed another guy in there he looked kind of depressed, but I didn't have time to worry about him when another man walked into the store demanding all of the money from the register. The poor woman was being held at gun point. I didn't want the man to see me, but if I gave him a reason to fight me then I could get rid of this urge for a while. I took the can of soup that I had in my hand then threw it towards the gun in his hand. The gun fell and the man turned quickly. He noticed me, making his way over to where I was standing. "Do you think this is some kind of game?" He asked grabbing me by my jacket. "No, I just don't think it's not very nice." I said and he was taken a little off guard. I took this chance to pull away then kick him in the face. I'm pretty sure I heard his nose break, but I wasn't sure. Thankfully I had kicked him hard enough to make him pass out. I then picked up my tater tots grabbed another can of soup then paid for my things. I walked out of the store not saying another word. I'm sure the two of them were looking at me weird, but honestly I didn't care. I went back home where I cooked my soup. I ate some then saved the rest along with my tater tots. I took a shower then went to bed I had to get up early for my job interview tomorrow.
