Friday 16th October
I think I may have found myself a new club. Gardening. I feel as if that if I bring new life to this world I can be redeemed, and where is the best place to do that? Gardening club. Every day they plant at least one new plant, so its perfect. I've joined the club, and I've completed the initiation.
It's not as cool as it sounds. All that it involves is planting a sakura tree (whose seed has been smeared in a small amount of your blood - dark, I know) in the centre of the hedge maze. I know, boring. But it can't be helped. If you want to join you have to do it. So far, they only have 12 places left. Then I was told an extremely interesting story by Uekiya, the club leader.
She told me that when the school was created, 40 years ago, her grandparents joined the school. They fell in love. They created the hedge maze and planted the first two trees. But one day, a few months after Uekiya's mother was born, her Grandmother's tree shrivelled and died. No-one knows why, because the school took it away and burned it, mixing the ashes with the soil. Not even a day later the tree's planter died of cancer.
Now, if anyone's tree takes ill unexpectedly then it is considered bad luck, and they must leave the club. She told me this so I would know that I need to look after the tree, as it is 'tied to me'. I respect Uekiya, so I'll take what she said in.
When I asked her what happened to her Grandmother, she told me that she was cremated, and her ashed scattered onto the hedge maze. Remind me to never go in there again.
I don't have anything to say really apart from the fact that I ate in that hedge maze, so I'm writing this in the bathroom next to the toilet, and Senpai woke me up this morning. I would like to know how he got into my house.
Not to point fingers, but Mother, I'm watching you.
