Tomorrow is the day. That's all I could think about, tomorrow.
"Mrs. Brewer, are we having a difficult time focusing today or something?" Joleen, or my manager.
"No, everything is fine." I try to sound polite and smile, getting back to the boxes of new name brand clothes. I work at an American Eagle.
I kept unpacking new clothes for another 1 hour or so.
"Boo!" I feel my sides getting slightly squeezed, I turn to see who it is.
"Dallas! Hey!" My friend. He gives me a hug.
"How is the little eagle doing?" His smile always makes me feel better.
"Not too good, Joleen keeps snapping at me." I lower my voice, still smiling
"Jenna! Get back to work!" I groan at her order.
"Aww come on Joleen! Give her a break, she's been working hard!" Dallas and I always suspected Joleen had a crush on him.
"Fine, she needs to be back at two. On the dot!" she glares at us.
"Okay, where do you want to go for lunch? We have an hour and a half"
"I think the Japanese restaurant right here is good" we walk to the restaurant stand.
We grab our food and sit down at one of the tables...
"So your friend... Harry, is it?"
I nod my head.
"He's coming tomorrow, correct?"
"Yes! I'm really excited!" I can tell Dallas isn't too happy about Harry coming.
"Just be careful with him." Dallas told me he liked me about a year ago, I couldn't say I felt the same.
"I know Harry. He's not a stranger, Dallas." I say taking a bite of my food.
"Jen, people change over the years... and its been five years since you've seen this kid? How do you know he isn't planning to do something bad to you? He's going to be in the same damn apartment building as you for fuck's sake! Jenna open your eyes he isn't the same kid you met when you were five!"
"Are you finished?" I'm now glaring at him.
"Jen, you have to understand my point of view."
I look at him, without saying a word.
We eat in silence for the rest of the lunch.
