A month passed by a lot faster than you expected. You packed your school bag with all of your school supplies and the sort. Once you were ready, you brushed over your hair one last time and smiled. You then straightened your shirt and exited your room. In the kitchen, your mother stood by the stove making pancakes while your father sat at the dining table sipping on a cup of coffee as he read the newspaper.
"Good morning, mum, dad." You greeted as you jogged up to the bench and grabbed an apple from the fruit bowl. Your father smiled at you.
"Good morning sweet heart. Did you sleep well?" Your father questioned. You smiled and nodded.
"Yep! I slept like a log." You said as you sat at the table. Your mother then set a plate of pancakes down in front of you and smiled.
"So, are you excited for school? Your father will drop you off on his way to work." Your mother told. You smiled and nodded. You then quickly ate your pancakes, your face smeared with syrup. Your mother frowned at you in disapproval.
"Y/N, manners." Your mother warned. You swallowed your food and grinned bashfully at your mother. You then cleaned up your face and stood up.
"I'm ready to go!" You exclaimed. Your father smiled and stood up
"Alrighty then, let's go." Your father told and made his way towards the door. You smiled and ran after him. This felt a lot like the old days, it was as if you were going to school like before. Before you could exit the house though, you heard a cough and turned around to see your mother holding a red blindfold and a walking stick. That's when reality came crashing in. You weren't going back to school like you normally would. This time, you held the burden of your otherwise horrendous sight. You sighed and reluctantly took the items from your mother, who gave you a sympathetic look. You smiled slightly and tied the blindfold around your eyes and slowed to a walk towards the car. Your father gave you a sorry look as he held the door open for you. You glanced up at him and smiled.
"It's alright, dad. I'll be fine. Even though I can't see it at the moment, please, smile?" You requested. Your father sighed and smiled at you while nodding.
"Of course, pumpkin." You grinned at him and climbed into the car. Your father then closed the door and entered the car. He then put his seat belt on and started the engine. The slow, daunting ride to school then began.

Once the car had slowed to a stop, you immediately knew that you had arrived. You heard the door open and a hand was reached out to you. You took your father's hand and he pulled you out of the car just as a familiar voice called out to you.
"Y/N!" Astro exclaimed as he ran over to you while waving his hand in the air. You turned your head towards him and smiled.
"Astro!" You exclaimed as you waved back. Astro ran up to you and grinned.
"You excited for your first day back at school?" Astro questioned. You let out a nervous laugh and nodded.
"Yeah, and also terrified." You admitted. Astro smiled at you and grabbed hold of your hand.
"Don't worry, I'll be with you the whole time. So rest assured because your shining knight in armour is here!" Astro joked. You bursted out laughing and covered your mouth, trying to muffle your giggles.
"Oh Astro, you're so sweet." You said. Astro's cheeks tinted red at this and he smiled. Your father smiled at this scene and patted you on the shoulder.
"Well, I should get going. I'll see you after, okay kiddo?" Your father told as he ruffled your hair. You smiled and nodded. You then hugged your father and sighed.
