One week had passed but Wad still refused to see Prem. He kept on running away until Kongpob cornered him.
“Ai’Wad, why are you hiding?”
Wad stared at him with uncertainty. “I am not hiding. Just doing my stuff, busy, I mean.”
Kongpob was not convinced. “If you’re busy, then we should be as well. But no, the seniors were looking for you.”
“Why would they look for me?”
“They just want to speak with you about the incident last week, specially P’Prem. He thought that you might feel guilty about what happened.”
Wad kept silent for a while. Little did he know, he was set up. Prem was just near them. Kongpob agreed to help his senior.
“I can’t face him.” Wad said with a low voice.
“Why? Are you afraid of something?” Kongpob inquired.
“I--- I don’t want him to be in trouble again because of me. Ever since we met, I always make it hard for him to breathe. I mean, I always put him into unecessary events that leads to danger. He doesn’t deserve it.”
Prem who was hiding behind them was tempted to reveal himself and clear things out but he immediately held himself back. He thought “It’s not a matter of whether I deserve it or not. I just need you to be safe and all.”
“I think, P’Prem doesn’t think of it as a burden or what. Why don’t you ask him yourself Ai’Wad?”
“I can’t Kong. I told you, I can’t see him.”
“Why?”
Wad almost jumped out because he was startled hearing a familiar voice. He slowly turned around to confirm the owner of the voice. “P?”
Kongpob was wearing his signature smile now. “I’ll leave the two of you now. Bye P.” he wai at his senior and left in an instant.
Wad wanted to leave as well but his senior hold his hand.
“Running away again?”
The young lad froze. He didn’t know how to react or even look into the eyes of his senior.
“Why would you think that way? Aren’t you being selfish? Not thinking what will I feel? Haven’t you even thought that I just wanted to protect you?” Prem said.
Wad was still looking down. His eyes were focused on the cemented floor.
“Why would you want to do that?”
Prem heaved a sigh and clicked his tongue making Wad somewhat scared to the taller guy so he opt to raise his head meeting the eyes of his senior.
“It’s not a matter of why, Ai’Wad. Its because I won’t forgive myself if I failed to protect you.”
Wad looked at his senior with confused sigh. Prem knew that the young lad don’t get the hang of it. He shortened the distance between the two of them. Wad didn’t stepped back so he took it as a good sign.
“I don’t really know what’s really happening but believe me, I’m losing all of my convictions because of this. I just want you to be there, safe and smiling.”
