After Jessica had passed out, the ambulance had arrived five minutes later. The paramedics immediately began to help Jessica. They put her on a stretcher and loaded her into the ambulance.

Ruth held the baby in her arms as they rode in the ambulance with Jessica. The baby was doing fine. He would be checked out once they reached the hospital.

Wayne, Ashley and Patty Ann all cleaned up as best the could in their haste. Wayne then drove them to the hospital, all praying for Jessica.

When they arrived, Dr. Rice was there waiting and Jessica was quickly taken away. Ruth wanted to go with Jessica, but, Dr. Rice didn't allow her.

Ruth stayed staring as she saw Jessica being wheeled down the hall. She still held the baby close to her chest, tears rolling down her cheeks.

A nurse walked up, ready to take the baby to the nursery to be checked over. The nurse could tell that Ruth was nervous and worried for Jessica, so, she offered Ruth to be with the baby through his check up.

Ruth smiled softly and the nurse led the way to the nursery.

Ruth looked on as the baby was looked over. Ruth's mind began to ease a little, wanting to be present for her son.

The baby weighed eight pounds, five ounces and soon got the all clear. The nurse then put him in a diaper and a hospital onesie and wrapped him in a blanket.

Ruth held him for a while before going to the waiting room where her children and daughter in law were. They all sat down and waited.

Two hours later, Ruth and the family were in the waiting room anxiously waiting for any news about Jessica.

By this time, Dorothy and Albert had arrived and Dorothy was beside herself with worry.

Albert did his best to comfort her. He himself was just as worried but he put on a strong front for his wife and grandchildren.

Finally, after waiting for what felt like forever, Dr. Rice came walking towards the family.

Ruth stood up and met Dr. Rice halfway, the rest of the family following close behind.

"Jessica is going to be okay." Dr. Rice said, wanting to calm the family's anxiety down.

Everyone breathed a sigh of relief and listened to Dr. Rice.

"There was still a piece of the placenta stuck inside, but, we got it out with no problems. Her blood pressure was high but we managed to bring it back down to normal. She did lose a quite a bit of blood but we gave her a blood transfusion to replace what she lost." Dr. Rice explained. "Now, all she needs is plenty of rest. You all may see her in pairs for now. Once she's better, then of course you all can stay in her room."

"Ruth..." Dorothy said. "You should see Jessica first. Albert and I will go in after."

Ruth smiled appreciatively at Dorothy, then she followed Dr. Rice to Jessica's room.

Before going inside the room, Ruth took a deep breath.

She then opened the door and walked inside. Tears appeared in her eyes as she took in Jessica's appearance.

She was so relieved that Jessica was no longer pale. Her color had returned and Jessica looked so peaceful sleeping.

Ruth walked over to Jessica's hospital bed and took hold of Jessica's hand. She held on as she took a seat on the chair right by the bed.

"Oh, Jess..." Ruth began as her tears rolled down her cheeks. "I'm so happy that you're going to be okay. You know what would make me happier is if you could open your beautiful hazel eyes. But I know you need your rest."
