Valerie's pov:

The talk with Arch left me shook. It was the first time in two years i had shed my tears. I was emotionally drained and Arch completely understood that. I lied on my bed silently listening to the owls hooting. Tim slept peacefully on the love seat near the window. Owls hooted outside and leaves rustled. Far away there was a howling of a wolf followed by another. I hadn't shifted for last two years. I missed late night runs. I missed having my best friend helping me take every decision. I missed those secret banterings, sharing sadness and happiness together, I missed her. As i thought about all these sleep engulfed me.

"Have this coffee dear! You look paler than usual" said Mama Jenny. Way to make me feel better Mama. Sipping the bitter coffee i looked at the dress or rather the collection of dresses kept in front of me. "So what do you think?" Mama looked at me expectedly. I shrugged. I had no idea what to reply. I was least bothered to wear anything to make me gorgeous. I just wanted to be hidden from the eyes of people. Maybe Mama understood my dilemma as she came and sat down beside me. "Dear, you are the strongest woman i have ever met. I want you to be confident enough now. You are beautiful, you are smart and let those stupid wolves understand that you were made to rule and not to be broken and thrown away like a rag doll." Emotional. Damn i hate being emotional but her words brought tears in my eyes. I nodded at her and as if she was just waiting for the cue, "Bring the dress inside" she said. The maids brought in a beautiful , gorgeous dress which made my jaw drop. "So let's begin dolling you up!" she said excited. Its going to be a really long night.

It's time to welcome the Alphas said Arch. I was to stand beside him with Mama Jenny beside me. Nervous would be an understatement. I was mortified. "Don't bow before any Alpha." whispered Arch. I looked at him shocked. Only the Oracle and his mate are allowed to do so. "I'll tell you the reason later but do as I say for now" he said. I nodded. "Oracle the Alphas have arrived" a messenger said. Arch nodded. Entered the Alpha from Aeras pack along with his Luna, Beta,and some other influential members of his pack. "Oracle !" said the Alpha in his grave voice. My instinct told me to bow down but Mama Jenny held my hand tightly. No i was not going to bow. This did not go unnoticed by the Alpha. He looked at me with his scrutinizing eyes. I kept my chin high without breaking the eye contact. His eyes were getting darker by every second which scared me like anything yet I had to put up a brave upfront. Suddenly his Luna intervened and smiling said,"Thank you for having us here Oracle! ". Mama Jenny took the hint and motioned a maid to escort the Alpha and his followers inside. I didn't even know that I was holding my breath. Sighing I badly wished to get back to my room and never come out. 

Next came the Alpha of the Edafos pack with his Luna, Beta and his daughter and son the soon-to-be-Alpha. "Oracle!" They said. As i stood confidently without bowing, my ears couldn't help but hear the Alpha's daughter say, "Snobbish bitch.How can she not bow in front of an Alpha!". Her mother glared at her. Looks like I am not the only one who heard it. The Alpha unlike Aeras Pack smiled at me and walked with the maid who led to the hall. 

Suddenly I heard it! A voice that I had been dying to hear since two years! But instead of being happy I was alerted and my heart started beating faster. "Betrayer" Ivory said. Just then entered The Alpha of the pyra pack, with his Luna and the BETA. I stood stiff. I felt a hand on my back and looked at Arch who had a strained look on his face. I smiled at him assuring that i can handle this. The voice inside my head said,"I want to kill him". "Not now", I said. "Oracle" said James. His eyes settled on me then. I stood there with confidence not showing a bit of fear. I could see this made him angry. Smiling to myself I looked at him without breaking the eye contact. A snarl was heard. Yes it was the Beta snarling. "Stand even more confidently Eri" said Ivory. I missed that nickname. The fire in the eyes of James was flickering, which meant he was close to converting into his wolf. Suddenly a voice broke our eye contact. "Valerie dear! How sweet to see you here?" Olivia the Luna said. "That might be a story for another day" said Mama Jenny with a fake smile and asked a maid to usher them inside the hall. " You might as well learn to respect people higher than your ranks" - the voice that i had been avoiding for two years spoke. Ivory was beyond angry, she was ready to shred him into pieces. "As a beta you must learn to shut your mouth especially in front of the Oracle" said Arch with a grave voice. The voice immediately made the everyone cower. The party walked ahead obviously angry. Arch turned towards me and asked,"Are you alright?". "Ivory! She is speaking to me!" I said with unshed tears. Mama Jenny gasped. Arch was surprised and then broke into a very rare grin. "Go to the temple. But don't get late for the ball. I have an important announcement." he said. And with that I ran to the temple not caring about the gown or heels. I had my best friend, my wolf back. Ivory was back!
