Me before You

"...I told him a story of two people.

Two people who shouldn't have met,

and who didn't like each other much when they did,

but who found they were the only two people

in the world who could possibly have understood each other."

― Jojo Moyes

Valerie's pov:

Gorging another cupcake made by Marie. Did I say she was an amazing chef? Maybe I have mentioned that earlier too. "You seem to be enjoying the feast alone?" and suddenly a hand grabbed my cupcake. I turned around to see Jose happily munching my lovely sweet cupcake. "Getting too much cozy are we?" I asked sarcasm dripping my tongue. He took a seat beside me. "You didn't seem to me as a fighter. But well you have earned my respect and loyalty too after defeating that bitch." I swatted his hand as he aimed for my fries.

"Tell me what happens next" I asked unsure what he and his people expected from me. "Well as a matter of fact, since you have me as your gorgeous friend I will be happy to enlighten you with the current working of the pack and how you can win the hearts of all the people". "Why would you become my friend all of a sudden?" I asked. "You don't trust easily do you?" I raised my eyebrows. "Alright! Well Stella has been a bitch and a bully to me. We are as you see, step-siblings" he said with a sigh. Tough I never had siblings but I could easily get it how tormenting it would be for someone to have a sibling like Stella. "Alright. Where do we start from?" Jose squealed and hugged me. This guy was certainly an over dramatic person!

"Alright this looks very.."

"Strange? Old fashioned? Dirty? Scary?"

"I was going to say a convection centre but yes the other adjectives work too".

Jose and I were standing in front of the pack local school. It was here that the members of the pack sent their pups to gain basic knowledge. Once they were of 15 years of age, they had a choice to go for higher studies or stay and help the pack to thrive. What Jose told me was that ever since Xander had become the Alpha not a single student was ready to join the army or help the pack anyway. All they wanted was to go and settle in the city in name of higher education, mix along with the humans and never return.

"There is something that changes their whole mindset. No loyalty towards the pack! Our pack needs new fresh warriors. The appointed Luna could do nothing. I hope you can do something" the teacher, told me. I saw through the class window a bunch of 20-30 teenagers sitting idly inside the class. I realised it was time for some activity.

"Why are we standing here all of a sudden?" a young boy with dirty blond hair asked, clearly bored. I smiled. We were standing in the clearing near the forest, where usually the werewolves shifted before the full moon. "Are you here to lecture us on why we should return back after our higher education, or why should we join the pack army?" a girl with a funky haircut asked. I shook my head and replied, "No. I am here to tell you a story about the elementals and play a very interesting game with you all".

"Seriously? Game" "What are we -kids?" "Why are we just wasting time here?"

"Silenceee" shouted Jose.

"So what do you know about the elementals?" I asked the group.

"They were some specially gifted werewolves?"
