sometimes y/n truly hated how good a person her friend was. oliver was just too nice sometimes. if it was y/n, the two of them would've been gone. they don't need anymore mouths to feed. especially a what seemingly annoying group of boys.
"they can though." y/n said, her e/c eyes looking over at the group of boys. her eyebrows furrowed as she did so.
"hey uh, it's fine you don't have to take us." chosen said. "we don't want to cause any trouble or anything. we just wanted our friend's leg to get checked on." he added. of course he wanted to make sure jaeden has everything that he needed for his leg to heal, but he was also looking for a nice warm meal.
"your brother is going to kill us when he finds out we brought more people." y/n said, not bothering if they heard or not. because she truly didn't care.
"just for the night, we have someone that will look at your leg." oliver said, looking over at jaeden. seeing the poorly bandaged leg with duck tape around it. for all they know it could be infected.
crossing her arms, y/n looked at the group of boys that her friend is trying to be well acquainted with. "well let's just hurry, ya? trenton is probably sending a search party right now." she said, tapping her feet on the dirty tile floor.
jaeden nodded, already limping his way towards his stuff placed in the same spot as earlier.
feeling a little bad, y/n sighed and started walking towards jaeden. grabbing his things for him. "here." she said, holding his backpack out for him and his water bottle. "uh thanks." he said, taking his belongings from her. giving the girl a soft smile.
"come on let's head out." oliver said, nodding his head towards the entrance door. y/n had one last good look at jaeden before turning around and joining oliver. with that, the five teens made their way out of the seven-eleven. chosen humming a random toon in his head. the sky had already set and the moon rested in the sky. the dark blue sky looking lovely and the stars shining as usual. walking in the middle of the night was jaeden's favorite thing, however now it just hurts to walk for him.
a wince left jaeden's lips as he walked, his leg was getting worse by the second. if they had the proper medical stuff for his leg, he's pretty sure it wouldn't hurt this bad.
chosen walked over to his friend and placed his arm around his waist to help him walk. he's such a dad sometimes i swear. jaeden thought, smiling to himself softly.
the five teens continued on walking for quite some time now, they would probably be at the school if they ran. however, that wasn't an option right now.
the high brick walls was visible along with the rusted up front gate. y/n looked up at the watch tower, seeing brianna standing there with her rifle. "hey, they're back!" she shouted, her head turning a little bit to talk to someone. most likely trenton.
as the five of them continued to walk closer to the gate, trenton was behind it with his arms crossed. "didn't i tell you not to go past the save zone? god y/n sometimes you're really thick headed." he said, sighing as a result. with that, he opened the gate and waited for his brother and friend to walk in. once oliver and y/n was on the other side of the gate, tre hesitantly let the three boys in. "what's your name?" he asked firmly.
finn stepped forward and pointed at himself. "i'm finn, that's chosen, and crippled over there is jaeden." he said, looking over his shoulder and watching jaeden rolling his blue eyes at his friend. turning his gaze back to the taller boy, finn sighed. "oliver said you have someone that can look at his leg. i-it's pretty bad." trenton looked over at jaeden, his lips curving into a small frown. he felt terrible.
"how did it happen?" he asked, crossing his arms over his chest.
"a guy we were staying with for a little bit did this to him. none of us are doctors or have any experience with this type of shit. so we just tried to clean the wound as best as we can, and bandage it up. but he ran out of bandage so now it's just cloth and duck tape." chosen explain. "can you help us? i don't want my friend's leg getting any worse."
trenton turned his head, looking over his shoulders he saw his small group slowly surrounding the gate. his eyes landed on his little brother. he really wants to make the right choice. oliver looked at his brother, and smiled ever so softly and nodded his head slowly. "okay." he paused, turning his head a little to look at y/n. " y/n? go get gianna." he said. trenton turned his head back to the three boys and held his hand out for the three to shake. "i'm trenton, and i guess you can say that i'm the leader of this group. it's real good to have some new faces here now." he said as the three boys shook his hand one by one.
"pleasure to meet you." chosen said, smiling up at trenton. though not by much, chosen was nearly the same height as him. "yeah thanks for not making us the walker dinner." finn commented, chuckling softly, before he shook his hand.
it's been an hour or so, and currently y/n has been sitting on her bed with oliver by her side. over here having a lecture from julius and trenton. "you know how dangerous that whole situation could've of been? if it wasn't some scrawny teen boys, you two would have been fucked." julius said, tapping his foot on the wooden flooring in their room with his arms crossed across his chest. julius never really "lecture" students here, however he does it all the time with his sister.
"jule, i'm fine okay? do you see any cuts or anything?" y/n paused, her eyebrows furrowed as she looked at her brother. "no, you don't. i can handle myself, and you know that." she added shortly after.
"you're still young and don't know everything about survival. anyone can take advantage and hurt you, y/n. and i'm not tryna see that happen." julius explained himself, shaking his head softly. a huff left y/n's lip blamed covered lips. utter bullshit. y/n thought to herself.
the girl didn't want to be in the room anymore, if she stays in this room any longer and hear her brother's sorry excuses her head might blow up. "whatever." she mumbled before
getting up from her bed."and where do you think you're going?" he asked her. oliver can see how angry his friend is getting, so he attempted to calm her by gently holding her hand. using his thumb to draw a not-so-perfect circle on her hand.
though it may have calmed her a little bit, she was truly frustrated with her brother right now. so she ripped her hand away from her friend's grip and stormed past the two older standing teens. quickly opening the door and slamming it shut with some much power it caused a loud slamming sound.
crossing her arms as she walked, she quickly went inside one of the abandoned rooms. once she was inside and closed the door shut, she was about to sit on the bed until she saw jaeden laying down on the other bed with his newly wrapped up leg. "oh uh sorry, i didn't know anyone was here." y/n spoke, slowly turning on her heel to turn around and leave the room.
"i'm sorry that i pointed a gun at your head." jaeden said, his eyes were looking at y/n. instead the were gazing at his fingers that he is playing with. "i-i...it was wrong but i just panicked because you had your gun pointed at my friend." he finished, his gaze shifting over to y/n.
"thank you, that uh means a lot." y/n said. her lips curving into a soft smile.
