it's been a week since the small cheek kiss and it's been a week since the two had mentioned it. jaeden's feelings for y/n has grown tremendously and he has no clue if the girl felt the same. the small talks they have, made his stomach turn (but what else is new?). he just wished he knew how she felt before he tries to make a move on her. he doesn't want to look like boo boo the fool around her and would end up hiding in his dorm due to embarrassment.

y/n, on the other hand, is trying to contain her feelings. she likes jaeden of course, but she isn't ready for any type of relationship. she just gotten over colton, she just needed more time. she keeps talking to gianna about this, and she is debating about telling her brother. but she doesn't want to deal with his brotherly teasing. but the only other person she could trust and can always go to is her brother, especially after he wrote his little apology letter a month ago.

picking up the wooden spoon teddy craved for everyone, y/n dipped it into her rabbit stew. she was so tired of the taste of rabbits, and the bland flavor the stew held as well. she wanted a waffle house or McDonald's. anything but this shit.

shaking her head softly at her thoughts, she ate her stew. she probably sounded ungrateful, there's plenty of people out there running for their lives and with no food. she should just take advantage of the home cook meals she gets every night. many can't do the same.

"are you okay?" asked brianna who was sitting next to her. brianna was the youngest out of everyone, however only seven months younger than y/n.

"yeah, i'm just tired of rabbit stew," she answered softly, now just stirring the stew with her wooden spoon. her head was rested on her left palm as she did so. this whole week has been boring. oliver and tre haven't came back from their trip yet (which was normal, the two stay at the neighboring camps for a few days before coming back), and it was a little longer than usual. apart of her was saying something was wrong but her brain was saying 'they're just staying there a little extra'. she hoped that's true.

"when do you think they're coming back?" now another voiced asked the girl. this time it was teddy. after the argument the two had, they aren't on best terms. the two tolerated each other, but they're not all buddy-buddy.

"i don't know when your boyfriend is coming back." y/n spat at the girl. in all honesty, the girl wasn't in the mood to talk to anyone. maybe except gianna, her brother, and jaeden. but what else is new?

"you know what? forget i even asked." teddy replied, rolling her brown eyes as she has done so. seconds later, she got up from the picnic bench and went to sit next to someone else.

"did you guys argue again?" brianna asked, her brow raised as she looked at the girl.

"no. i just didn't want to talk to her. i'm just not in a talking mood." she said, looking over at the raven-haired girl. she nodded slowly before looking at her stew. "but i don't mind talking to you." she replied shortly after, giving the younger girl a soft smile.

she might of done it out of pity or not, but the girl actually felt bad for her. just because she's the youngest she gets treated differently and often left astray. brianna stays on her own for the most part, as everyone else thinks they're so important. however, she does see gianna and brianna talking to one another often.

"what do you think about jaeden and the rest?" y/n asked her, now paying attention to the fifteen-year-old instead of her bland stew. "be brutal, i won't tell jaeden," she added, letting a chuckle escape her lips.

the little comment made brianna chuckle as well before she started speaking. "honestly, they're the most annoying group of guys i met, and i roomed with your brother." she said in a joking matter. "chosen is the most tolerable one, if i'm being honest." she spoke a little after.

"yeah my brother can be pretty annoying." y/n told her. the two talked for a bit, just catching up as the two don't really talk to one another. she was so caught up with talking to brianna she didn't notice her gaze shifting over towards jaeden. he was laughing at a joke finn probably told the group of five. sitting with him was teddy, chosen, finn, and gianna. her eyes trailed down to what he was wearing. it was the hoodie she had given him as she found no use for it anymore. it was originally trenton but he gave it to oliver, and oliver had given to her. it always fit a little big on her but it fitted him perfectly.

looking over to where y/n was starring at, a small smirk was plastered on the younger girl's lips. "so uh you and jaeden?" she said simply, raising a brow as well.

getting out of her thoughts, she looked over towards brianna. with a confused look, but she didn't know why. she knew about her feelings wholeheartedly, but she was just trying to push them away. y/n flint had a crush on jaeden lieberher and it was easily noticeable.

"come on, y/n. the way you're just looking at him, it was like a movie scene." she explained more, causing the girl to cover her mouth. a terrible fucking romcom. "oh my god, why are you so loud for bri?" y/n said, slowly removing her hand from brianna's lips. therefore, earning a laugh from brianna in return.

"are you going to ask him out or something?" she furthered ask. y/n's e/c eyes looked over at jaeden for a second before looking at brianna once more.

"it's more complicated, i mean i'm not ready for a relationship." y/n answered, looking over towards jaeden once more. she saw his blue eyes shift their gaze over towards her, causing the girl to quickly look over to brianna. her cheeks growing hot by the second. but in the corner of her eye, she saw his lips curved into a small smirk. it's official. he knew how she felt.
