Jinyoung didn't want to go to school.
Well... he didn't want to face the people there, that is. Apparently, someone was able to take a video of the scene between him and Daehwi from the day before, and it spread like wildfire around the school.
He was sure it was from one of Daehwi's loyal fans at school who takes pictures and videos of him wherever he goes. Whoever he or she is, that person was able to capture every single moment. From when Jinyoung accidentally hit Daehwi, until when Daehwi strutted towards the gates of the school with the members.
Jinyoung was starting to wonder who or how Daehwi really is. People from all around school were talking about him, gossiping about him, mostly saying negative things.
But, he figured that he was about to find an answer to that when he saw Park Woojin walking towards him, they were classmates.
"You were the one who Hwi attacked yesterday, right?" He asked Jinyoung.
"Yes?"
"Come with me."
"W-What? Why?"
"He wants to talk to you," he told him, avoiding his eyes at all costs.
He started walking outside of the classroom, with Jinyoung just behind him. The attention of the people from the class were all on the two boys leaving the room.
They saw Daehwi leaning against the wall, with Im Youngmin and Kim Donghyun, the other members of MXM from the upper level.
"Leave us alone," Daehwi told the other three, his gaze intimidating as it bore over Jinyoung's nervous state.
The three then left the two of them alone.
"So, what's your problem?" He asked, crossing his arms together.
"My problem?" Jinyoung asked softly.
"Yes, you. Did you really think that it was a smart move to spread that video to everyone in school? Do you have anything against MXM, or... me?"
"I did n—"
"Because of you, my reputation in this school is suffering." He pointed at Jinyoung, accusingly. "Do you know how this will affect my career?"
"But, I—"
"You wanted this to happen?" He scoffed, putting his hands down and into his pockets. "You see... you could've just told me if you were jealous of me. I mean, I'm cute, attractive, talented, smart, rich... I'd be jealous of me too."
Where are Jaehwan and Jisung when I needed them the most?
"So, you're just not gonna say anything?"
"I—"
"I don't wanna hear any of your BS," he took a step nearer Jinyoung, and said his next words in a really deep voice. "If something happens to me or my career, I promise I will make you suffer."
"I didn't do it."
Daehwi laughed darkly. "That's exactly what a guilty person would say."
"I really didn't," he said, his voice coming out helpless.
"You should sign a contract with some acting agency, I swear."
"But—"
"Bae Jinyoung!"
Jinyoung almost smiled in relief when he saw his two best friends jogging towards him.
"What's happening?" Jisung asked, looking at Jinyoung and Daehwi back and forth.
"Oh, who are they?" Daehwi asked him.
"They're m—"
"Just shut up."
"Excuse me?" Jaehwan said, taking a step forward towards Daehwi.
"What do you want?"
"How about you shut up?" He suggested.
"And why should I?"
"Because, you're being a bitch. First, you dump your frappe on Baejin's uniform, now you verbally attack him and accuse him of stuff he didn't even do? Is that how low you go, really? And, I thought idols like you are supposed to know better. Now, if you may excuse us, we're leaving."
Jaehwan pulled Jinyoung by the arm then the three of them walked fast to Jinyoung's classroom. Jinyoung looked back and saw Daehwi glaring at him, then turned around to look for his friends.
"What did you tell him?" Jisung asked him, once they were in front of Jinyoung's classroom.
"Well, I tried to tell him that I wasn't the one who spread the video, but..."
"But?"
"He kept on cutting me off."
"Yeah, I saw," Jaehwan said. "It was quite funny actually."
"How come?"
"He asked you who we were, but when you were about to answer, he told you to shut up." He laughed out loud.
Once his psychotic laugh died down, he saw the serious looks on his friends's faces. "I'm sorry, I just found it really funny."
"But, anyway, just... ignore him," Jisung told Jinyoung. "He's no good for you. Don't look at him, don't stare, don't talk, nothing."
"But, what if he approaches me? Do I talk to him?"
Jaehwan nodded. "Yeah, you wouldn't wanna look like some scaredy-cat, because you will look like one if you do that. Just... don't start anything."
"Let's start from this," Jisung said. "Sell all your merch of his, delete all his pictures, change all your social media accounts to accounts for you and not for him, change your wallpapers, just remove all of the things in your life that remind you of him."
"Isn't that too much? I mean, this is not a break-up or something..." Jinyoung asked them.
"You're gonna do this so that the next time you'll have to face him, you won't look like some intimidated, lovesick minion of his, because that's exactly how you looked like earlier."
"Well, you have a point..."
"So?" Jisung asked him.
Jinyoung realized that day what everyone else has realized way before him. The negativity about Daehwi didn't spring from jealousy. It sprung from the truth. It was the truth.
He realized that the Daehwi he met during the fansign was just a mask of the real one. Daehwi isn't actually the friendly, bubbly person as he is seen by fans. He is a rude, self-centered, narcissistic jerk who cares about his reputation above anything else.
It wouldn't do him good if he continued to look like, according to Jaehwan, 'some intimidated, lovesick minion of his.'
He knew that he had to forget all feelings he had for Daehwi before. It was gonna be hard, but he had to. It was for his own good.
