song for this chapter: September by Campsite Dream
Ambers pov
My tanned hand grabbed onto the cold metal door handle, swinging it open to reveal the familiar, dull hallway of my school.
Almost as soon as I had stepped into the crowded building, girls were already welcoming me back with chirpy smiles; and boys greeting me with smirks as their eyes scanned over my body; which was darker than usual.
I rolled my eyes at how ignorant most of the boys here were.
I had on a pair of light wash blue shorts and a cropped white tee shirt; so I guess it wasn't really a surprise guys were staring.
But, it's not like I could wear full coverage jeans or anything. Septembers here in California were just as hot as the summer.
My eyes quickly scanned over the small piece of paper, which had my locker number on; making sure to keep an eye out for which one was mine.
Once I had finally found it, I entered in the combination, to reveal an empty, dusty small space.
Most the kids here had already been at school a week, so they had already managed to settle in.
i however, was on vacation in Europe with my parents all summer, all the way up to yesterday, meaning I missed the first seven days of my senior year.
As I began packing my books into the small space, I felt two small hands press against either side of my arms.
The coldness that radiated from the strangers palms onto my bare skin, sent shivers down my spine.
"Hey bitch." I smiled, as the hands spun me round to face my best friend of three years, Anna.
Her real name is Anastasia, but I don't think i've ever called the girl by her real name during the whole time i've known her.
Personally, I think the name's pretty, but she seems to hate it with a burning passion.
"holy fuck. Didn't you get quite a bit tanned over the summer?" We both laughed as she gripped onto my arm, studying the dark olive tone on it.
"I guess Europe is the place to go for a tan." I shrugged, pulling my arm back slightly.
Anna's bright blue eyes sunk into mine slightly, as her face turned more serious, all of a sudden.
"I missed you so much, holy fuck." My lips curved up into a smile as she pulled me into a long, tight embrace. "The first week without you here, was torture."
Anna and I have been best friends since the first day we met, during freshmen year.
Her and I instantly clicked from day one, finding common interest in practically everything we spoke about.
It had always been just the two of us.
People would always talk about how you would never see one of us without the other.
I guess we were kind of inseparable.
Despite it just being me and Anna, the two of us were also fairly popular.
