"Go and find out yourself, it's all a game. They want you to fit in. I don't know why."Ambers pov
Friday, 10pm
Blaring music, crowds of hyped up teens dancing, stacks of endless amounts of alcohol; even a large lit up swimming pool in the backyard.
This party had everything.
Most the teens here were happy drinking the night away, having the time of their life; but not me.
Yes, this party had everything. But, not the one thing I wanted.
Everyone was here. Everyone except the one boy I wanted.
My eyes scanned round the crowded living room of sweaty, ignorant house guests for the fifth time, as I hoped to find Ethan.
I honestly thought he was going to turn up. It was almost as if there was a small feeling inside the pit of my stomach, assuring me he'd come.
"You still looking for the new boy?" I turned to face Anna, who was now yelling to me over the loud music.
I slowly nodded, the sinking feeling now weighing down my whole body.
Anna frowned slightly at the disappointed look on my face. "Aw baby, I'm sorry he didn't show up." Her hand lightly pressed onto my shoulder for comfort.
I inhaled a thick breath of air, before exhaling deeply.
"I really thought he'd come." I shrugged simply. This could have been my one chance to get closer to him tonight.
Anna's bright blue eyes pitied mine for a moment, before widening slightly, a small grin curving up onto her lips.
"Forget about him. Let's go get you a drink and we can start the real party." She laughed, although I didn't portray the same feeling.
To be honest, all I felt now was disappointment and tiredness. The idea of having to paint on a fake smile and pretend I actually enjoyed the presence of the people around me, just seemed all too much right now.
"Actually..I think I'm gonna head home." I sighed, although it was inaudible over the booming sound of Drake.
"No fucking way Ambee." Anna pouted her bottom lip out dramatically as she whined. "I am not letting you go home, just to lie in your bed in a pit of depression and pity over some boy."
I cringed as she scoffed slightly at the last part, not even referring to Ethan properly.
"Nah, I'm good." I repeated, a small smile painted onto my lips. "I have to be up early tomorrow anyway."
Anna's face dropped into a frown, obviously disappointed; although she didn't say anything.
Instead, her arms extended out, pulling me into a tight embrace; filling me with the scent of her sweet cherry perfume.
"I'll call you later, okay?" She smiled, and I nodded.
"Have fun." I teased, pushing her lightly as she turned around, presumably towards the pile of drinks in the kitchen.
