song for this chapter: thoughts by Christopher Blake

"I'm drowning in the light, that keeps my darkness right beside me, while I'm working on my demons."

(Highly recommend, this song is so relaxing!)

Ambers pov

Saturday, 2:00pm

My cheeks burned as the cold breeze stung my face at full force, as we moved further down the road.

My teeth chewed on the inside of my cheeks, almost causing them to bleed as I attempted to hold in my frightened screams.

"You okay?" Ethan called to me through the wind, and I just tightened my grip around his waist as a reply.

It wasn't until the motorcycle finally came to a stop, that my heart rate and breathing returned to a regular pace.

"That was probably one of the worst things I've ever done in my life." I sighed deeply as I lifted the weight of the helmet off my head.

"It takes a while to get used to." Ethan replied with a chuckle, as he also lifted his helmet off, revealing his flurry hair.

The small smile that was now painted on his face, sent gentle butterflies to the pit of my stomach, causing me to smile as well.

"I'm sorry you're stuck with me for another few hours, by the way." My voice broke the silence after a few moments, as Ethan and I began walking towards the sand part of the beach.

Ethan shrugged, as he kept his eyes on the view ahead.

"No need to apologise. I mean, it's not like it's your fault for forgetting the keys to your own house." He teased as I hit the side of his arm playfully.

"There was no need for the sarcasm, asshole." We both laughed as I rolled my eyes subtly.

My hands buried deep into the pockets of my jeans, that Ethan had somehow remembered to pick up on the way home last night.

Over the course of one week, the weather here had taken a dramatic turn, and we were having one of the coldest Septembers yet.

"You cold?" Ethan's deep voice suddenly spoke up, as he narrowed his rich eyes down at me.

My head shook slowly, although it was pretty obvious I was lying; due to the way my body was shaking stiffly.

"You suck at lying." Ethan rolled his eyes with a sigh. "Here." He mumbled as he began to take off his dark leather jacket; leaving him in nothing but a tight blue shirt.

"No, you're going to be freezing. I'm fine honestly." I attempted to assure him, stepping away slightly from the jacket.

Ethan scoffed loudly as his eyes trailed my trembling body up and down. "Yeah, you look fine to me." His voice laced with sarcasm.

"I have a sweatshirt on, you only have a t-shirt. You'll be so cold if i take-"

"For fuck sake Amber, just take the jacket before i change my mind." His voice grumbled as he tossed me the piece of clothing; cutting me off.
