"Love will happen when it wants."
"Cause I want you."

Ambers pov

that same Friday afternoon

"Please Ethan." My voice whined as I heard Ethan sigh from the other end of the phone. "Don't make me go through this alone."

A very audible grunt sounded from the other end of the phone, and I could practically see him rubbing his temples out of thought in my head.

"What's in it for me?" His deep voice questioned bluntly, throwing me off guard.

I paused for a moment, running my hand through my long hair as I thought.

"Hm, you get the pleasure of spending a whole evening with me and my family?" I responded weakly, only to hear a laugh from the other end of the line.

Who am I kidding, no matter what I said, it still wouldn't make Ethan want to spend a whole evening at a family party with me; just so my family didn't think i was completely dateless.

"You're going to have to convince me a little more than that, Amber." He spoke with a light chuckle, clearly finding it amusing.

I let out a heavy breath through my nose, leaning my head back a little.

"Look, I might have already told my parents that you were coming as my date, and they might have told my whole family out of excitement."

I dropped my head in shame, despite him not even being able to see me.

My cheeks instantly heated into a dark pink colour as I heard Ethan burst into laughter from the other end of the line, causing me to feel even more embarrassed.

"Fine." He spoke in a monotone voice after a while, causing my cheeks to lift into a light smile of relief.

I really did owe him for this, my god.

"Thank you, thank you, thank you!" A light laugh left my mouth as I sighed, relieved.

There was a moments pause, before Ethan's voice lit up from the other line again.

"This is all under one condition though." His deep voice spoke, causing me to furrow my eyebrows. "You have to wear something hot."

The heat radiated off my cheeks as I bit down on my bottom lip, trying to hold in my smile.

"Deal." I whispered softly, the smile still present on my face.

For some reason, Ethan had this effect on me like no other. Like he could say the littlest thing that most people wouldn't take notice to, and it would make my stomach flip inside out.

"I'll be at yours for seven." His smooth voice spoke in a low tone, before the sound of the phone hanging up rung through my ears.

Saturday, 7pm

I sighed heavily as my eyes stared at the reflection of myself in the tall body length mirror.
