"No love. I'm an Orange." he snickered.
"What?" she asked back quietly, but still with shock.
"I'm the runaway Orange the Government is looking for." Taeyong finally confessed. And to his expectations, Seulgi was just as surprised as others would be if he was a Red. He smiled slyly at her, looking back up.
"My dad was the scanner that day," he started, "so he saved me, but not like how Heechul did with you. He told me to run away before the actual scanning took place, because he scanned me personally, sneaking into the room. He gave me almost all his wealth and possessions and told me to run away, so I did. But I found out later that they took... his life. He gave up his life to save mine." Seulgi could hear the hurt in his voice, for once realising this cold man had feelings too. "I'm living proof that Irregulars, despite the levels, are still people. The danger level scale is pure bulls***. It's just to make people hate us so they can send us to be experimented on." he spat out angrily.
Somehow, Seulgi believed what he said much more easily than what her brothers used to tell her. "What happens when they send us away?" she asked, knowing all her questions would finally be answered.
"They do a wave test, passing waves of different frequencies through the room we're in, to see what level irregular we are by which wave we react to. Greens are the lowest, then Yellows, Oranges, and Reds." Taeyong explained. "They try to find out what makes us irregular. Greens have extraordinary intelligence, and Yellows strength. As for Oranges, they haven't been able to find out. And since there were no other Reds except you here, they don't know what you're capable of." he told her. Seulgi looked down to her hands, then back at him.
"What do you do, as an Orange?" she asked and he snickered.
"Let's just say I'm as poweful as both Green and Yellow combined." he answered. She nodded, understanding what he meant.
"What happens once they know your code?" she asked again.
"You're sent to work in the concentration camp for the designated code. Greens work on stuff like enginnering or business, while Yellows do heavy lifting work like in factories or buildings." he replied. This time, Seulgi was more angered than hurt.
"That's... That's brutal!" she spoke angrily.
"I know, which is why I want to stop them. The guys and I were able to hide away and live on normally, and so did you even being a Red. So we need to show these people that being Irregular has nothing to do with being a human. In actuality, we're much better, because we have more skills."
Seulgi looked down as thoughts of her family ran through her head. Heechul was in the AIS, while Baekhyun would start in the Government soon. But they were going to work against people like her, people who are different. She wondered if they sent her away for her own safety, or if it was just for their own lives to be made easy.
Taeyong noticed her expression, and moved closer to her. He pushed her hair back to see her face more clearer, and leaned in, his lips touching her neck softly. Seulgi's eyes froze, and darted towards him when he moved back. "You're one of us love, so we work together to get freedom." he whispered, his hand slowly intertwining hers. "No matter what, we will get it. Remember, you and I are the most important, especially you. Alright?" he asked, kissing her hand. Seulgi nodded nervously, and could sense him smirking again.
That's all he ever does, smirk. Something Seulgi was dying to change.
Taeyong backed up and proceeded to button his shirt, then fixed his hair and put his jacket back on. He turned to her to see her fixing the dress and putting her sweater back on, so he opened the door to leave.
"Come down after I leave." he instructed her, helping her out of the helicopter. She nodded, and walked to the edge of the roof, watching the scenery. She heard the elevator bell ring, and knew he was gone. But she decided to stay longer.
With the wind blowing and the quiet night, it was just really calming up here, so she relaxed herself. She watched the sky in front of her, which was very peaceful that night. But once she looked down, her feelings made a turn. She saw an AIS van parked in front of a building not too far, and watched as the armed men took people out and threw them into the back.
"That's what Heechul does." she told herself. "He's breaking up families." she watched as a few people tried to fight off the men, trying to keep who she assumed were their children. Unable to bare it anymore, she closed her eyes and looked back up to the sky, which was the only peaceful thing to exist. Everything was quiet, and she sat against the wall with her eyes closed, wanting to clear her mind.
Until she heard sirens.
