"Why did you do that?" Hansol's stern voice came from aside, breaking his train of thought. Taeyong, who had been biting his finger zoned out, looked towards everyone around him, all wanting the answer to the same question.
"Why? Why do you need to know that?" he asked mumbling.
"Because that's unlikely of you." Johnny spoke instead. "You told us yourself in the beginning that she was just a weapon, nothing more. So why did you save her when it could've taken your life as well?"
Taeyong looked away from all, eyes scanning the blank screen in front of him. He zoned out again, hearing only the others' mumbled voices, clearly questioning his actions.
To be honest, he had no idea what he was doing until it happened. He had no idea himself why he ran into the fire, why he pulled her hand despite the pain, why he carried her out, over all, why he actually saved her when that was his plan.
"Shut up!" he yelled once the voices started to get annoying. With a hiss he got out of the chair angrily and walked out of the room, going nowhere. He ruffled his hair in frustration, and kept on hissing as he rubbed the back of his neck. Crossing the dark corridor, the only thin line of light caught his attention, mostly because it came from a certain room.
Her room.
Voluntarily, his feet took control, and he found himself standing at the doorway. He peeked in, and slowly pushed the door wider, revealing the young lady on her bed, looking as zoned out as he was earlier. Only, she looked deep in thought about something big.
She hadn't realised his presence, so Taeyong took the time to take in her appearance. She wore a sleeveless body hugging red dress, that reached until just above her knees, and a loose grey sweater on top that fell off her one shoulder. Her wet hair was let down, looking effortless, and her hands kept fumbling. But over all, Taeyong took in her image over her appearance. Her image outside, and inside.
Slowly he stepped into the room and pushed the door close behind him, and as if she knew, she looked at him, not even surprised.
"Why did you do it?" her first words to him. "Why save me back there?" she asked again, only met by silence.
"Because... That's only humane." he said after a moment.
"You're not normal to be that much humane." she told him as a fact. "You know. You know I'm a Red, so why bother risking your life to save my dangerous one?" she asked, her voice sounding as if breaking. "Tell me Taeyong. Tell me this before I assume, and feel, things that I shouldn't. Tell me the truth." she stood up facing him, though he was taller so she had to crook her neck up. Taeyong looked through his glasses, chuckling inwardly.
"What is it that you feel and assume?" he asked in a low voice, seeing she was unaffected and affected by him at the same time.
"I'm not telling you, because it's complicated. Just tell me why you saved me?" she asked demandingly.
"I saved you because you're a Red, and you're a danger." he said, stepping closer to her, her eyes shaking at his close presence. His hand reached up, pushing her hair behind her ear as he leaned closer to it. "And I like both." he whispered to her ear, feeling her shiver slightly.
"Wha... Why?"
"I like danger, because it's exciting. And I like the colour red, because it's beautiful, yet harmful." his hand ran through her hair while his other now grabbed her elbow, holding her in place. "Coincidentally, you are both, Seulgi..." he called her name in such a way, she hoped for it again. Seulgi felt electrocuted when she felt something brush against her neck. Her hands raised themselves until she felt his cotton shirt flat on her palms.
