Don't you hate it when you wake up right before your alarm is supposed to go off?
Me too.
And it usually happens everyday, except today. My alarm clock went off at 6:30 instead of 6. Fuck! A whole half hour behind to get the girls ready and on time to school!
I jump out of bed, as my feet are tangled in my blankets, and I fall flat on my face. Ugh. I get straight back up, and dash into the hallway to wake up the girls.
"BRI-"
"Happy birthday Bella!!!" Brianna, Bianca and Trevor were in Brianna's room with presents, a breakfast buffet of my favorite morning foods, and giant hugs from all of them at once.
"You guys!!!" I almost cry in astonishment. I sit on the ground with them, amazed and in shock they surprise me like this! I thought we were all gonna be late for the first time ever today, but the girls already have their clothes on and backpacks packed, ready to go.
"Thank you!" I smile as Bianca hands me a plate of bacon, fluffy chocolate chip pancakes, scrambled eggs and a glass of orange juice.
"You're welcome mommy. It Bri idea." Bianca didn't want all the credit. Brianna laughs and blushes.
"I mean, it was Trevor's idea too...to come over early and switch your alarm clock while you were sleeping." Brianna nudges her dad. Trevor nods and laughs.
"I mean-"
"Ok ok, I get it, it was a team effort." I eat my food happily, and I tell them to grab plates too cause I sure wasn't going to eat everything. They sit around me in a circle, as we eat and chat.
"You like marble cake, right?" Trevor asks and I nod.
"Yup."
"Thought so...not asking cause it's your birthday or anything, of course...." Trevor nods back. The girls giggle in unison.
"Mhm." I roll my eyes with my face stuffed with delicious food. I check my phone as it's blowing up with texts and social media messages telling me happy birthday. I scroll through all of them in my notifications, looking for Chris' name. I frown.
"Hey hey hey, what's the face for?" Trevor squints his eyes.
"N-nothing..." I shake my head and take a deep breath in and out.
"Did Chris say anything mommy?" Bianca asks as my eyes are glued to my phone, double searching for something, anything from Chris. I almost ignored her until I looked back up, completely zoning out.
"Hmm? What's that baby?"
"oh- uhh, nothing!! I love you mommy!" Bianca kisses me again and hugs me. I smile and tickle her tummy in my lap.
"Alright, thank you so much for this yummy morning-"
"But presents!" Bianca points and I smile at the boxes and bags, then back at her.
"Oh, right, okay let's do that real quick."
Brianna brings four presents to my lap, and Bianca helps me open them one by one.
