Dee Dee was given a pair of shoes. She sat in the back of the carriage remembering the words the Princess told her before she left out. Dee Dee was to take the carriage back to Emerald City, then get on the train which she shall ride until the last stop-there, she will get off and walk to the Kingdom of the West. Dee Dee had asked how long the trip would take since the trip to Emerald City would be about half an hour. The Princess couldn't really give her much of an answer since no one purposely goes to the Kingdom of the West.
When she got to the train station, she got off the carriage and petted the horses and waved bye to the driver. She waited with the other men, women, children and even teenagers at the train station. Over by the trash cans that sparkled green were a four girl group giggling about whatever. Then over to the opposing side were a couple of boys throwing a ball between one another. She sighed thinking about her friends and truly realizing the consequences of her just running off like that. Time seemed to be on her side in this realm but still, if she stayed too long then of course, the longer time past in her own realm.
Choo choo! The train hurled down the tracks, sparks flew to the side of the rails as some of the people stepped back. The train halted and the doors swung open. Bodies rushed into the terminals including Dee Dee. She managed to find a sit next to a window where she positioned herself to look out. It wasn't until about twenty minutes into the ride when she noticed some people began to look at her. It was ever more apparent when the train came to a stop and the girls who had been giggling with one another got off. Before they did though, Dee Dee witnessed their wide bugged eyes gawked at her. Again, Dee Dee had to position herself to not meet their's.
The train roared on and on; it roared past a city of small people. It roared past a forest where something shined from within. They past a cornfield where a scare crow hung. Then finally, they past it all and now it was just the Kingdom of the West which wasn't much. It was just dark skies, flying monkeys, and a large dark castle where only three people lived-two witches and a wizard.
Dee Dee stepped off the train. This time, she didn't have to worry about pushing or shoving past people because she was the last person to get off. It was the end of the road. The train paused for about ten minutes and soon it was gone. By then, Dee Dee had already started her journey to the kingdom. She was wide open on the trail that was no longer the yellow brick road but instead it was a dirt brown road-like the ones back home in Kansas leading to the farm. They could kill her. The monkeys could tear her from limb to limb, but she wanted to get back home. It was stressed enough.
She walked up the steps to the front entrance but figured it was probably safer to not meet with the parents-they wanted her dead and all. Instead she opted to search for the green skinned girl. She didn't have to search for long because of noise she heard coming from just around the corner of the castle. When she peered over, she saw the faint glint of the green girl walking just the other way. Dee Dee ran after the girl and when she came to the other side of the house, she saw a lively, decorative, vivid garden.
There were sunflowers, roses, tulips, bonnets-so many within the garden and it was about the size of a pumpkin patch maze! She was amazed for a moment until she saw the girl walking with a wheel barrel and with two flying monkeys walking just a little behind her. Dee Dee glared and stepped forward to talk to the girl, but she wasn't able to get far. Two monkeys flew down and stood before Dee Dee. They both reached out for her and when she tried to back away, they only reached out further. Their nails scratched her skin and their own flesh was rough to the touch.
"Ouch, let go of me!" Dee Dee said. She was able to get a look at the girl with the green skin who looked on from a distance. Insulted, Dee Dee yelled out again. The girl could obviously hear her yet she merely looked on. "Let go of me!" Dee Dee yelled louder, but the two guards only held on tighter to her and even tried to lift her into the air. When she felt her feet taking flight, she started kicking and scratching. She pulled out lumps of their hair which fell to the ground below, or was carried away by the wind's current. Yet through it all, Dee Dee still saw the girl with the green skin just standing there, watching it all.
A scream lifted out of Dee Dee's throat as if the castle itself was falling on top of her. With the force of her body, she formed her hand into a fist where it met with one of the monkey's face. A tooth broke from his jaw and he let go of her arm. Now Dee Dee was just dangling with her other arm from the other monkey. She glared at it yet wasn't safe from the other monkey that came back for her. Blood spilled from his lip and he reached out for her once more, his dark claws and dirty nails wouldn't touch her. She lifted up her leg and kicked him in the face, attacking his nose. Dee Dee was now the one who reached out and grabbed the monkey's wing and threw him into the other monkey, who finally let go. Dee Dee felled to the ground, out of breath and glaring with anger at the girl with the green skin.
Dee Dee ran toward her but the witch was ready. She placed her foot into a position that allowed her to square her hips and shoulders. The witch was in perfect position when Dee Dee aimed with her uncontrollable fist to the green girl. It was easy to avoid and she continued to avoid Dee Dee's punches and her kicks-all with her hands behind her back and a unimpressed look upon her face.
"Aaah, give me my shoes!" Dee Dee yelled, giving the girl one last attempt at a smashing.
The girl with the green skin stopped Dee Dee's fist, and she looked Dee Dee in the eyes even as the other girl's teeth were clinched. "So you do know magic after all." The witch laughed and turned her left wrist. She pushed it out into Dee Dee's stomach, causing the other girl to fly back, landing hard on her side. Dee Dee even slid a few feet before losing momentum.
Dee Dee held onto her stomach in pain. Her breathing was still rough but slower now. She looked at the girl who walked slowly to her with a small grin upon her face. A thought she was going to die right then came through and she would have believed it until she saw the warmth in the witch's eyes. More like...amusement more so than warmth.
The witch stopped when she approached Dee Dee. "My name's Adina." She walked past Dee Dee who remained hurt on the ground. "...I'll help you get your shoes..."
