Chapter 1

After the first night spent together your feelings were no longer hidden from your angel companion. As fate would have it Castiel felt the same, but he wasn't around enough to show it. On top of his absence Dean was with a girl and Sam was in hell. Jay was all you had.
Recovery was a long road. You'd said but a few words to Castiel then had gone mute. It was a month later before you broke down crying. Jay rushed to your side, allowing you to cry into her shoulder.
“(Y/N)?” She questioned rubbing your back. You couldn't stop sobbing. It was all just too much, the memories of hell warped your mind beyond belief. You hadn't been Crowley’s pet that time, he’d left you to rot. Sixty fucking years, but Castiel had rescued you. The poor angel was nearly as broken as you were. He'd seen the conditioner you were in, and it horrified him. Every time he looked at you all he could see was your soul, the essence of yourself, warped and dark. You could see it in his eyes whenever he was near. Jay couldn't see your soul, she didn't see just how bad the damage was.
“Please? Talk to me?” She asked, rubbing your back soothingly. You were so tempted to speak for her, your friend. But you didn't; you couldn't. If you started talking it would all spew from you, the vile feelings and the nightmarish memories. You just shook your head, you wouldn’t say a word. It was easier that way.
“That’s okay…” Jay whispered. After a bit you calmed down, letting out soft sniffles.
“I’m going to go to the mall.. You want to go too?” She asked softly. You nodded, in the month you’d been free from hell you’d barely left the house. Jay helped you stand up.
“Go get dressed. I’ll be outside waiting.” She smiled. You stood up and watched her walk outside before searching through your drawers. You picked out jeans and a v-neck band tee, nothing fancy. You walked into the bathroom and dressed quickly, brushing your hair.
“(Y/N)?” A voice sounded outside the door. Castiel. Very quickly you opened the door, looking up at the angel. Castiel smiled very lightly.
“Hello.” He enveloped you into a hug. You hugged him back happily, you'd missed him. From what he'd told you Sam, Dean, Bobby, and him had stopped the apocalypse. Sam was in hell and Dean was living with his old girlfriend and her son. A lot changed in the six months, especially when spent in hell.
“I've missed you..” He murmured. You nodded because you'd missed him too.
“Things are chaotic in heaven.. It’s a civil war. I'm so sorry I haven't been around.” He apologized. Even though he'd been in hell for six months then in heaven for another month he seemed more human than ever. You shook your head and rubbed his back, it was okay that he was busy. He kissed the top of your head.
“I have to go… But I have a surprise for you later… A formality of courtship I'm told..” He explained. You smiled and looked up at him, kissing hin very gently. His lips were just as soft as ever. Before you could open your eyes he disappeared. You frowned, grabbing your wallet and heading outside. Jay sat in the car, listening to music and singing along. You smiled again, watching your goofy friend.
“(Y/N)! It's your favorite song!” She yelled out the window. You walked to the car and, sure enough, your favorite song was being played. You climbed in and buckled up as Jay started driving. You head banged to the music very lightly, looking out the windows. Something caught your eye, a man sitting on the bench. He sort of looked like Matt. You wondered how he was doing in heaven, you hoped he was doing good. You pulled up to the store, Jay parking. She shut off the car and the two of you climbed out. You really did enjoy the candy shop inside it, so that's where you headed first. You bought a pound of candy (Which was horribly expensive) before heading to a weapons shop. You still hunted from time to time because Jay still had to learn. Losing her to the vampires taught you one thing; Jay needed the ability to protect herself. On top of that you couldn't just stop hunting. Matt would have told you to get out. but you knew you couldn't. You inspected a pair of silver brass knuckles, they could be useful. You slid them on you fingers as someone bumped into you, sending you sprawling onto your ass. You let out a gasp as you looked up at the moose of a man. It was Sam.
