Hells Kitchen, New York City..
Crime rates sky-rocketed since the disappearance of The Black Widow Vigilante...The Spider-Woman. Tombstone had beaten her to her knees and the hero was left bruised, wounded and had a broken heart from losing Bart's trust. Bart had moved out after that month, still trying to find Cybertek to get his revenge, but Jessica had thrown in the towel..something she would never do. But love made people do strange things it seemed, It made a fighter stop fighting. She felt as if she had nothing left it to fight for and it killed her inside though she would do her best to hide it.
The lights were out in the auditorium...curtains raised and a melody began to play on a classic piano, it was so emotional and deep, the keys pressed down so gently as it made an ever so sweet harmony. The lights were all out, but one was on, the spotlight in the middle of the stage was on a beautiful ballerina with no expression on her face. She stood on her toes and then began performing her dance routine. The crowd watched, and some of them were brought to tears at how beautiful this dancer was, and how graceful each movement was, It was as if she could fly...and that she did, leaping into the air and twirling only to land on one toe and lean all the way forward with her other leg extended, she was so flexible and never lost her balance. To the crowd, she was just a dancer, but to the world, she was known as Jessica Drew. ..
The light was on her fair skin, her red lips glistened from the lighting as well and a single tear ran down her cheek.
She bowed and the crowd applauded her...she saw Bart in the audience, but it was just her imagination going wild again. She snapped out of it and bowed again as flowers were tossed at her. Later that night she was in her locker room with her towel over her shoulder. She slipped herself into her undergarments and reached into her bag, she threw on a black tank top and a leather jacket as well as a pair of jeans and gathered the rest of her things. She walked down the sidewalk that night and held her hands in the pockets of her bag. She wore a hoodie underneath her jacket and had it over her head as rain fell on her. In the distance she heard someone shout for help...she looked up as the drops ran down her face and she reached for her bag, but she didn't carry her suit with her anymore...so she continued walking...she was Spider-Woman NO MORE.
She couldn't turn around...but she felt compelled to. It was Peter Parker. That's what she continued to tell herself, but she knew it was a lie. Jessica Drew was telling her to do something...
She was her own person now. The Ballerina ran down the sidewalk and pulled her scarf over her mouth, she got at a distance from the commotion and noticed the man was holding a blade and about to attack an innocent younger guy. He was drunk. Jess shot a web at the blade and yanked it away, then the victim closed his eyes as he thought that was the end of his life. All he heard was a loud "BAFF- KAPOW!!" and then the victim opened his eyes and saw the attacker knocked out with a busted lip, webs all over him and a note that read "Call the cops"
Jessica regretted that she didn't want law enforcement to think she was back on the streets or Jameson to go write an editorial puff piece about how Black Widow is better than Spider-Man and all that garbage.
When she got home she made herself dinner, just some ramen since she was too tired. She sat down on her sofa and began to eat it and watch the news with puffy red eyes from crying.. She grabbed the remote and then dropped it.
She noticed her motor skills were off, her depression was affecting her powers as well. Her webbing was weaker, and she got tired way faster after spinning just a bit of it. It was due to her not eating a lot recently..
She finished her food and then walked into her room and looked over at the briefcase on the floor with her suit in it. She frustratingly opened it and noticed the suit had holes and was ruined from her last fight with Tombstone. She sighed and tossed it aside, sitting on her bed in the dark with only the lighting from lightning flashing outside pouring in the room as thunder rumbled. The rain was still heavy..and there was a bit of flooding downtown. She then saw a box, and walked over to it, remembering Bart since it had his things in it...he had left it. She noticed there was a letter inside. It read this:
" Jessica, I don't know what it is but when I look at you I just feel like I'm whole. I lost my kids and my wife, and I felt less than half, but you make me feel whole. I'm a very smart guy when it comes to tech..but I'm not the best with words. So I'll say it here and now, on a note, a note you'll never see. I love you, Jessica. I love you so much, I just wish I had the courage to tell you how you inspire me, how strong of a person you are..how you never give up. Even when the world wants to tear you from reality it seems, you fight and you never give in, you put others above yourself. You're really a remarkable woman...I can see myself settling down with you, My wife would want me to find someone, and I thought it was impossible...But you're really out of this world Jessica. I love how you act so tough but you're really just a softie inside, how you play hard to get but you want to be loved...How cute you are when you smile with that little grin of yours. Everything about you, down to you grabbing my butt or calling me a nerd, I really just can't get enough of you. I just wish I had more time to write this...I wish I could make you mine. In short, I'm sorry in advance for making you cringe, but Jessica, you're a really fly girl."
She giggled and the laughing turned into sobbing quickly as she held the card tight and a tear dripped on it.
"I love you too Bartholomew.."
She couldn't hold herself up anymore and just curled up on the floor in tears. Then she remembered what her teacher Lu Wei had once told her.
"It is easy to fall, but hard to rise. Jessica, a proverb I was taught was that you fall seven times, yet stand up eight. So stand."
She stood up and then walked over to her closet and opened her gift from Janet Van Dyne. It was the suit she had custom made, lighter, more flexible and durable, and the gloves were fingerless. Instead of being dark red it was more of a brighter variant, with the white really popping out on the chest spider. She held it up and glared at the storm, she saw Tombstones reflection in the window and kicked the window open as the wind blew on her and the storm seemed to grow more intense. She clenched her fist and pulled the mask over her face...
"Whatever life throws at my face, whatever I will be knocked down with, no matter how bad it hurts, no matter how hard it seems. I will never let anyone knock me down, ever."
Before she left, she put her suit on and swung out the window. It was time she told Bart why she went behind his back. She knew Bart moved but, she had been following him ever since to make sure he didn't get hurt by Tombstone or anyone from Cybertek. It was around midnight and she didn't even care.
Moments later, She went to his apartment and he wasn't there..So she knew he was going to try and sneak into the Cybertek building tonight...She swung as fast as she could and then saw him walking to the subway station, she swung low and grabbed him up, he began to freak out and breathe heavily, he was caught off guard, but Jess didn't care.
She landed on a rooftop with a greenhouse and held him tight in a hug
"Bart...I love you."
He was freaking out
"What do you mean? I don't even know you-"
Jess removed her mask and pulled him close to where there was no space between them and kissed him on the mouth roughly and held his collar. He widened his eyes and then it all made sense, she was..trying to help him this whole time. He kissed her back and no words were needed nor said as the two kissed while rain ran down their faces, they were drenched. She pinned him to the rooftop and continued to kiss him, nibbling his bottom lip gently as she closed her eyes. Bart slipped his hands down her waist and his fingers extended as his palms opened and grabbed her buttocks, squeezing them as he sat up and she made eye contact with him, they peered into one another's eyes and then less than a half hour later they were in her apartment and on her bed, She straddled him and began to leave lengthy kisses all down his neck as she put her hands on his shoulders, her braced her head as she kissed his chest and neck, then greedily unzipped his pants and help them get them off, she was already bare nude. The two were breathing heavy due to gasping for air from the many kisses they gave each other. Lightning flashed outside and it continued to pour down as thunder roared. She sat atop his member and began to rock up and down as she had her mouth open and her eyes closed as she moaned softly and shuddered, Bart and Jess were making a storm of their own in the bedroom that night..a well-deserved one.
The next morning, Jessica stood on the balcony in nothing but her bathrobe. Her hair in a towel as she looked out at the city, Bart snuck up behind her and hugged her. He wore a towel around his waist and pulled her inside, The two kissed again, now in the kitchen..she sat on the countertop and she closed her eyes.
"Hey there."
Bart whispered and she put both hands on his shoulders and leaned in to kiss him again, then the kettle whistled on the stove and she smirked at him teasingly..
"You should go get that baby.." Jess had a cheeky expression which earned her another kiss on the lips. Bart got the tea and then the two sat down on the sofa. Jess had some of Bart's clothes he had left over at her apartment so he was able to change into something clean.
"Bart..no more doing this alone. We do it together..Okay? No secrets..."
She spoke softly as she sat in his lap and held her tea. Bart nodded at her and kissed her on the head..
"Anything for the woman I love.." He replied.
Jessica blushed and rubbed her arm "You know..I thought I only liked girls... And Redheads in particular...buuuuut..." She was a tad embarrassed to admit. "Last night wasn't so bad..."
"It was good for me too." He replied and pinched her thigh and she squealed lightly.
The two were walking to a computer hardware shop later that afternoon so Bart could work on a bug he was making. The plan was for her to plant the bug inside and then let Tombstone expose himself, the plan was sure to work of they worked together...maybe?
