Chapter VII

Explosions went off, and screams were heard throughout the hallways as Bart ran to his phone to call Jessica. "Jess?! JESS!! My building..It's it'ts, I don't know it's ...Get here now! please! Everyone on the top floors is trapped and we can't get out...I'll try to get as many as I can.." Bart panicked and coughed from the smoke. Jess was already suited up and on her way, as she held her mask in one hand and the phone in the other and ran across rooftops and leaped to and fro. She pulled her mask over her face and in a worried shout she stopped Bart from doing anything stupid. Or at least she tried to. "BARTHOLOMEW!!! YOU STAY PUT. I'm on my way now. Don't get hurt, I'll save them.."



Jessica flung herself into the air and landed on a rooftop close to his apartment. Jess soon arrived at her destination and broke through a window and rescued the civilians bottom to the top floor, Bart was on the top floor and getting civilians to the roof. He went back for a girl in a room, a young one. "Does anyone know who's daughter this is?!? I'll get her!" He shouted as all the residents were on the roof and safe now. The fire department was bringing helicopters and the building was evacuated nearly, there were only a few more but they were in Jessica's arms as she swung them to safety and then went to the rooftop to assist the emergency helicopters and take some residents down to the floor manually by web swinging. After clearing the roof the first responder looked at Jessica and offered her a hand.

"Are you ready? come on! They're all safe. Let's go, Ma'am!!" Jessica turned her back and said no words, realizing Bart wasn't on the rooftop. One of the residents in the rescue heli shouted "There's one more guy!!!"


Jessica broke the ceiling and fell down and ran through the fire inside, screaming and kicking down doors, She looked and saw a door open and heard shouting. Bart's shouting. "HELLO!!? ARE YOU HERE IS ANYONE IN HE-" He was cut off to see before him, not a child in distress but the Cyborg Super Soldier: DEATHLOCK..

The Cyborg had one robotic eye that glowed and held a recorder that had the screaming playing on repeat. He crushed it like it was glass and then walked towards Bart, the one human eye it did have, was black and lifeless, emotionless. The Cyborg was like the angel of death and he had come to collect Bartholomew's soul. He aimed his palm at Bart and fired a concussive blast that sent him flying backward into the wall. Bart groaned and coughed, he could barely move. Jess ran in and grabbed him, kicking the cyborg in the chest and making him shoot out the window. The Cyborg got kicked into a nearby wall across from the building and then leaped back inside. Jess grabbed Bart and hauled ass out of there. The Cyborg pursued her and that thing was FAST. She tried to shake him but it was as if he knew her every move. She couldn't get away. She had to take Bart somewhere safe so she could fight this guy off, and she had to do it fast. Jessica took Bart to a shipyard nearby and placed him on the cargo ship, hiding him in a crate.


"Stay here." She pulled her mask down and kissed him, then pulled it up and closed the door on the crate and swung onto the main deck of the boat where she looked into the sky and saw the cyborg flying through the air. It landed in front of her and rocked the cargo ship with its heavy body and impact.

"I don't know if you can hear me Tombstone, but I hope you're at least watching. I'm shutting you down. For good."

The Cyborg titled his head and blasted Jess, she dodged it and threw a punch at him but the Cyborg grabbed her wrist and showed resistance. She glared at him

"I always hated Terminator."

The Cyborg twisted and she groaned in pain, then she tried tearing the arm off but the skeleton was adamantium she remembered. She would have to fight him differently. She then realized the skeleton was unbreakable but his hardware wasn't. So Jess pounded the cyborg in the chest with a punch that dented its steel armor, and then she punched again and it let go of her. She then shot webs at it but the robot tore the webs off and melted them with a chain sword that had plasma on it. "Why do the bad guys always get the good shit?!" She wondered out loud and then did a backflip and dodged the slicing attacks. Bart broke out of his crate and went to the controls. He was trying to get the crane arm on the boat to work.


Jessica was too fast for the robot to hit her, so it did a heat scan and noticed Bart was out. So it ran after him and leaped to the window Bart was behind but git yanked backward by Jess's webs, she slammed it onto the boat and then picked up a crate and tossed it down on top of the Cyborg, but Deathlock grabbed it and then tossed it back at her. She caught it and skid backward, Deathlock charged her and tackled her to the ground, making her drop the crate and fall down. He ground and pounded her and punched her, she held her guard up but couldn't do it for too long, the punches were bone rattling and painful. Jessica kicked the machine that was once a man off of her and he landed and removed his rifle. Firing like crazy at her, She showed him just how fast she was and ducked under the machine gun fire, then shot a web at the rifle and yanked it out of the borg's hands and tossed it off the boat. The two squared off and then charged one another. The fight lasted an hour, and Jess was gaining the upper hand due to damaging its insides with enough powerful punches. But the Cyborg was adapting to her fighting style and was harder to hit. Bart wanted to help, somehow. So he lit up the shipyard so Jess could see easier, and then grabbed a ton of crates with the crane, waiting for jess to follow along.


She noticed what he was doing and took note of the battlefield. She fought him till her suit was ripped and tattered and she was bruised and bloody. The robot began to spark at its joints and slow down a bit. She grabbed it and then used a steel rod to stab it. The Borg froze and looked down at the rod, then hugged Jessica and stabbed her with the rod through her shoulder. She yelped in pain and the robot pushed her off. She tried to get up but it's foot stomped down on her and she had to hold it up and struggle against it. She felt too weak, then she snapped out of the pain and threw the Cyborg off of her and then tossed him across the deck and Bart was ready. "NOW!" She shouted and then Bart dropped the crates on the Cyborg and buried him. Jessica panted and held her wound, webbing it up and then leaping to Bart.

"It's not safe for you here. We have to move."

Bart nodded and then the two fled the scene, or at least they tried. Deathlock kicked the crates off and looked pissed, they just irritated him. He blasted Jess and Bart while they were in mid-air. Jess fell overboard and Bart landed on a crate and was knocked out due to his head hitting it. Jess fell in the water and all she saw was black. Memories of Peter from her home earth first meeting her played through her mind and then she remembered Miles, Kitty, MJ, her home on Earth 1610, She thought of +Kaine Parker, +Ben Reilly and + as well as +Mary Jane Watson {Captain America}. And her love for her friends and family woke her up against all odds as she crawled up the wall of the boat. Deathlok had taken Bart to the top of the crane and held him. Bart was unconscious and limp. Tombstone radioed Deathlok "WHAT ARE YOU DOING?! FINISH HIM NOW! DO IT!!" Deathlok heard Jessica land behind him on top of the crane and cough a bit. "Put...Him...DOWN!!!" She shouted and ran toward him. Deathlok grabbed Jessica and choked her, then smiled and dropped Bart, he fell slowly and Jess saw this all happen in slow motion. She screamed at the top of her lunges and cried, Deathlock tightened his grip and she gagged, she broke free and kicked Deathlok off of her and sent his body flying into the water. She leaped down as fast as she could and aimed her web carefully to catch Bart. The web caught onto his chest and she pulled him upward as she fell downward, catching him and falling onto her back.


She got up slowly and pulled him into her arms and hugged him.. "I got you...I got you, Bart."

She removed her mask and tossed it aside, shaking Bart and wiping her eyes, she was crying and shaking her head. But then Bart opened his eyes slowly. "You..saved...m-me..." *He smiled and coughed. "Shh don't talk I got you.." Jess smiled and whimpered a little, burying her head into his chest. "It's okay." She assured him and then noticed he had been stabbed before she had gotten to him "No..No no..." She sobbed. "Y-You better not leave me Bart..don't do this...Bart? Please?...eyes on me." Bart had blood running out of his mouth as he coughed. "I'm s...so sorry J-Jess.."_

Jess's whole face was red and her eyes looked bloodshot and irritated, she scrunched up her lips and her lip began to quivver as she sobbed. Bart reached up for her cheek. "I love you...You're the woman I love Jessica Drew..You're my hero.."


Jessica shook her head. "NO! You aren't leaving..I can't....I can't lose anyone else. I can't do this without you. I love you. Do you hear me?! I love you. and I need you. Don't leave me...Don't.."

Bart's eyes were open...but he was lifeless and she whimpered in a high pitch as her body began to shake. She shook her head and cried, she used her finger tips to gently close his eyelids as she held his dead body in her arms so tight.

She had no words but she sobbed and cried into him. Deathlok had finished his mission and retreated. Jessica lost a large part of her that night. She lost the one she loved.
