Mark Tuan's POV
I went to visit her every day. I would tell her little stories about us when we were still dating, not yet married. She couldn't hear or see me, but I made sure to smile anyway. Even if it hurt, she must have hurt 10 times worse. She needed to somehow feel better.
When I ran out of things that happened in the past, I would talk about things in the future. I would imagine Joo-won was at school, ranting in his little high pitched voice how much he liked all the teachers. How he was excited to move up a class and meet new people. I would describe my imaginations in detail to her, with hand actions and enthusiasm.
Then Jackson called again. He wanted to see where she was. He wanted me to stay away. He told me to meet him at a cafe and we would sort out what happened.
I lost it.
I ranted about how she was dying, how he didn't love her, how I wanted nothing to do with him, how he had separated us, and how I wasn't just going to be obedient anymore. I hated that it had to take someone hurt just for me to say that.
He seemed to freak out and hang up. I don't know what happened, but I could at least hope he was okay, even after all he did. Nobody deserves death.
I had promised (Y/N) I would tell her the truth in three weeks, but I was worried about Jackson. As cruel and wrong as he was, he was still human.
And so I left her.
Again.
