Mark Tuan's POV
So I continued telling her stories, stories of us in the future. I would explain everything as if it were real, and she'd smile a lot more often than I had seen her smile in the past few months.
The stories were about us all being a happy family, Joo-won starting school, another potential child and all the joys the world had to offer. The doctors were seeing good signs from her as well, and said she might return soon.
Everything was perfect.
And then it wasn't.
As I was taking Joo-won home from daycare, I got an emergency phone call. I pulled over and picked it up. (Y/N) returned for a second.... and then she left again. This time, she wasn't coming back. This time, it was forever.
No. No, no, no, NO! This is not happening. Not right now. I wanted to run there, I wanted to scream, I wanted to punish everything and everyone. But I couldn't do that, especially not right then, when I had to take care of Joo-won. I drove him home and fed him, read him some stories and put him to sleep. Before I thought of doing anything rash, I ran downstairs into the gym and punched my punching bag until I was too sweaty and tired to do anything. Almost anything. I picked up my phone and quickly called (Y/N)'s mom and slowly told her what happened, asking her to sit down first. She's a polite lady, she thanked me through her tears. I didn't deserve a 'thank you'. I deserved to be my punching bag at the very least.
I'm so sorry, (Y/N).
I'm so, so sorry. I thought I was protecting you....
I thought.....
I thought you were going to be safe....
