Chapter 9: Kids

December 27, 2017

"James, I know you want a kid but we've been trying ever since you got out of cryo." He sighed as I helped him with the yard work. I tended to our goats as he put hay into the wagon. "I just want the best for you, Blaire. I want us to be parents." I smiled as he kissed the top of my head. "I'm afraid of us having our own kid. Since we were both affected by HYDRA with these serums and stuff. I don't want my child to have to suffer what I did." I petted the goat and opened the gate, letting them in. "Well, let's keep trying. What if we get lucky? Maybe we can have our own family!" He said excitedly. His grin widened as he wiped his hands on his work clothes. "Maybe we can try later."

He hugged me tightly and walked back inside our home. I washed my hands quickly and went back to my garden. Wakanda didn't really change climates so it was a nice change from what I was used to. I picked some vegetables and plums for Bucky, placing them into the basket. My stomach began to hurt, clenching my fists tightly. "Maddie, give me an analysis of me." I whispered to my watch not wanting to let Bucky here me. A scan flashed over my body and i waited patiently for my results. I've been experiencing this slight pain for awhile but I moved it off like it was nothing. "Mrs. Barnes, it seems like you are in the process of a pregnancy. Calculating....... At least 4 months. Congratulations! Shall I tell Mr. Barnes for you?"

"No, Maddie. That's fine. I can handle it from here. Thank you." I set down the basket and sat by the wall. Oh my days.. I'm pregnant. I tried to compose my shock and happiness from Bucky. I basically ran back into our home, seeing Bucky working on something in his notebook. I set down the basket and walked up to him. Wrapping my arms around him, I tried to look at his work. He immediately shut it from me. "I have news." I whispered in his ear. I let go of him as he turned around in the chair. He looked up at me, giving me a loving gaze. "Sunt 3 luni însărcinata" (I'm 3 months pregnant). His eyes widen as he stood up. "Really?!" He hugged me with his arm as he lifted me up. "Oh my god. I can't believe I'm going to be a dad!" He said excitedly, beginning to tear up.

"I have to tell Steve." We simultaneously said, laughing at what we just did. "I'll tell Maddie to contact him once we finish cooking dinner. Are you up for Spaghetti or Ciorba de Burta." He kissed me off guard and smiled. "Spaghetti, I don't want you to work to hard." I pushed him away playfully. "Y'know, I'm still considered a superhero/ criminal." He shrugged as he fixed up Maddie for a video chat. I took out a pot and began to cook our food. I sat on the stool and saw Bucky was already on the facetiming Steve on our Maddie. "I have goo- no... Amazing news to tell you. I'm just wait-. Oh she's right here. Should we tell him?"

I sauntered over to him, sitting on his right side. He immediately put his hand around my waist, rubbing small circles into my side. "I'm pregnant." I said as Steve's face morphed into surprise. I heard a scream come from the background. "The h*ll she's pregnant." I heard Sam yell from the background. I giggled as Sam and Nat came into view. "Congratulations!" I heard Nat say as she gave me a smile. "Thank you guys! I can't wait for our little bean to flourish!' A knock could be heard and I see Shuri at the door. "Guys we gotta go! I'll contact you when we get more on the baby."

I stood up and told Bucky to watch for the food. "What can I do for you Shuri?" She looked up at me and smiled. "I'm actually here for Mr. Barnes. We start on working on his arm and we think we have a finished product in line for him. Oh, and congratulations! I should tell my brother of the good news." I nodded and smiled. "Let me get him out of work clothes and into something more appropriate attire. I'll send him out with you." I walked back to where Bucky was at. He was currently putting the pasta into the saucepan. "Shuri needs to take you to the lab. I'll save you some food. Let's get you into some new, clean clothes." He sighed as he turned off the stove.

"What would I do without you?"
