Cindi POV
It was 10 more minutes until lunchtime and I was really hungry since I haven't eaten breakfast. I tapped my foot eagerly and was tuning out the sound of Mr Felix's voice. "Cindi!" He yelled causing me to jump. All heads to turn me, making me feel nervous.

"What is the square root of 20?"
"Five, sir," I answered.
"Good, please pay attention because we have a quiz on Friday you wouldn't want to miss any information I'm about to give."

I nodded my head and paid attention the rest of class until the bell rang. "Alright, students, you're dismissed. Cindi I will like you to please come to see me before you leave."

Everyone rushed out and I walked slowly to him. "Cindi, dear, are you alright? You hardly pay attention or answer questions anymore,"
"Yes, Mr Felix, I'm alright just stressed out and tired."
"Are you sure? Is there anything else that's upsetting you?" He asked, fixing his black circle glasses.

"No, nothing is upsetting me." I lied.
"Alright, if you say so. You're dismissed, enjoy the rest of your day. And remember, don't let anyone or anything upset you."
"Thanks, enjoy the rest of your day as well."

He smiled, standing up and arranging his papers. I walked out of the cafeteria and saw a group of students looking my direction with their phones out. What the hell is going on? I saw Joshua holding a posting with a football next to him. The poster read: I finally have the BALLS to ask you to homecoming.

Everyone started cheering and yelling. "Cindi, will you be my date to homecoming?" He asked, getting on one knee like he was proposing. "Of course!" I screamed and everyone yelled and cheered.

He picked me up and spun me around. Veronica hugged me as well. "Yes, go best friend!" I smiled to myself and Joshua kissed me in front of everyone. I kissed back and some students yell "Goals!" Or "Aww!" He pulled away and gave me the poster.

I was at Joshua's house and I watched him play Fortnite on his ps4, not even showing me attention. "Josh, will you please put the damn game down?" He took off his headphones, but his eyes still glued onto the game.

"Huh? What you said?" He said shouting. "Josh, your shouting and I said can you please put the damn game down?" He paused the game and turned to me.

"Okay, I paused the game," I smiled and kissed him. "Okay, you can go back to your game." We both laughed and I watched him play, encouraging him.

After he was done, we watched a movie together and ordered Papa John's pizza. We cuddled and ate our pizza, focusing on the movie. Then it hit me. He never asked me to be his girlfriend. He only asked me to homecoming. Then, I had a plan.

To ask him to be my boyfriend in homecoming. He kept looking at me. "What?" I asked, laughing. "I can't look at you? You're so sexy." He licked his lip and I laughed.

"Your sexy, too," I complimented back. We were smiling and looking at each other until my phone went off.
"Who's that?" Josh asked, peeking over my shoulder. I sighed. "It's my dad, I got to go,"

"Aww, already?" He pouted and I nodded. "After all, it is a school night. Bye," I said leaving.
"Wait, you forgot something."
"Oh, right, a kiss." I kissed him then pulled away. "Bye, Didi." I waved at him.

The lights were off so I was assuming my dad wasn't home, I crept upstairs until I heard his voice. "Didi..." he trailed off.

"Where have you been?"
"With Veronica," I lied.
"Didi, are you lying?"
"No," I said my voice cracking.

"Come here." He motioned me over. I walked over to him and he patted his lap. I slowly sat on it and he touched my hair.

"I still can't believe you cut your hair," he ran his fingers through it. "But it'll grow back, right?"
"Yes, daddy," I answered, trying not to upset him.

"Why do you smell like a man? Like a male has been touching you?" He whiffed in the scent. "Are you sure it isn't you?" I asked and he chuckled. "I'm sure it's not me. It smells like Chanel and I don't have Chanel."

"Can I leave now?"
"Why so soon? You just got here, doll."
"I have homework to do." I lied and he sighed. "Go ahead, doll." I jumped on my feet and ran upstairs, doing the usual. I showered and washed his scent and dirty touch on me.

I texted Joshua that I was home safely. I put on a white t-shirt and black shorts and watched TV feeling bored that none of the people I love was here. I went through my 'Memories' box and pulled out a necklace that my mom gave to me before she passed.

I never went to my mom's funeral, but I know she just passed. Nobody, not even my so-called "father", wanted to take me.

*flashback*

"Daddy, when are we going to mommy's funeral?" I asked. He sat on the couch sipping his beer, watching the TV. "We're not going to her funeral," he said bluntly.

"But, why? Don't you love mommy?"
"Nope never did. That's why I had a mistress because she was never pleasuring me."

"Ew, that's gross!" He turned to me. "You know, you're very annoying. I wish Mary had an abortion with you, fuck out my face," Tears welled up in my eyes.

"You never loved mommy? She loved you so much! And you cheated on her? I wish you were never my father!" I screamed and he stood up.
"Come here," he grabbed my arm and took me upstairs. "Where are you taking me?" I asked and he just squeezed my arm tighter.

He threw me into the basement. "Please, no! Don't lock the door!" He ignored me and locked the door. I was in the basement for three days and he only bought me food in the evening.

There was an old glass picture of mom that had a crack on her smile. I picked it up and held it tightly to my chest. "I miss you." I kissed it and kept it ever since.

I didn't realize I was crying until I felt something wet on my cheeks. I laid down trying to sleep, but I just couldn't. I grabbed my phone and texted Joshua if he could come over. He said he was on his way and he was going to come and change for school so he was bringing a duffel bag.

I laid down until I heard light taps on my window. I got up and peeked in the window and saw Joshua on the ladder. I opened the window and let him in. "Thank you for coming to stay," I said and he smiled. "Anything for you, Didi." He lightly patted my head.

"You wanna go to sleep now or watch TV?" I asked.
"Watch TV?" I nodded and patted the seat next to me. He put his arms around my waist and I turned on the TV.

Joshua POV

We watched TV for about a good hour until Cindi fell asleep. I smiled and kissed her cheek and turned off the TV.
"Goodnight, princess," I whispered and pecked her cheek for the last time.
