Katie's POV

Shane thinks I cheated on him. With Cody, his best friend from middle school. Shane hasn't talked to me in 2 days, strange in contrast to him constantly checking up on me every few hours last time. Seeing our current situation though, it's to be expected.

He hasn't answered any of my calls, replied to any of my texts, or anything. It's like I don't exist to him anymore.

Burrying my head in my knees, I take ragged breaths. I wipe my tears away using my sleeve and inhale the comforting scent of vanilla wafting around my room.

Taking out my phone again, my thumb hovers over Shane's number. Should I? Groaning in frustration, I switch off my phone and sprawl myself across the bed.

Knock knock knock!

"Go away Jessica." I mutter.

"Katie? Can I... can I come in?" A low, quiet voice sounds outside.

My head shoots up faster than Usain Bolt can run.

"Shane?" My lips quiver.

"Hi Katie." Shane says, opening the door. He stands awkwardly in the doorway, wearing a long sleeved shirt than shows all the muscles beneath it. He tucks his hands into his pocket and starts. "Bella told me what really happened that night."

"What?" I reply, confused.

"When we got here, Bella got out of the car. I wanted to adjust my parking though, so she stayed outside while I adjusted the position of my car. She says that she saw what happened through the window, how Cody kissed you, and how you tried to stop him but couldn't. She tried to warn me but I was excited about going in, so I didn't listen to whatever she had to say and went in. I'm sorry. For jumping to conclusions. Lo siento, mi amor."

Just saying, Shane sounds really sexy when he speaks Spanish.

I get up from my crouched position on the bed and ignore the pins and needles in my leg. I walk awkwardly towards where Shane is and pull him into a tight hug.

"Shane?" I ask quietly.

"Yes, Katie?"

"Don't ever believe that I'm cheating on you. I would never."

Cupping my face in his hands, he presses his forehead to mine. "Of course not, Princess. I'm sorry I ever doubted you."

The warmth of his hands seep into me, warming me up as if I were in front of a fire place. I stare deep into his eyes and get lost in their pools of blue.

"I love you." I say, ever so softly

"I love you too, Princesca." He says, placing his lips gently on mine.

My lips respond to his willingly. It's a gentle kiss, not a fierce one. A gentle one, but one full of passion and love.

In that one kiss, I'm reminded of how lucky I am to have Shane as my boyfriend.

Sometimes I feel like he can read my mind. He knows exactly what I want, even when I myself don't know what I want. I really am lucky.

"Katie?" He says, breaking away.

"Yes, Shane?"

"More like I'm the lucky one."

Jessica runs spints across the field as if she's trying to break a world record. Her face glows a light pink and her breath is uneven.

"Oh my god. Katie." She pants between gulps of air. "I heard Cody left school. For good."

"Really?" I reply, stretching my hamstrings.

"Yeah. Apparently, some guy knocked him up for trying to rape his girlfriend. And then, he called him a low-life scumbag and told him to leave school or he would try to rape his younger sister."

I nearly stumble over. "Are you sure?"

"Positive. It's sad though, he really was cute!" She pouts.

"After supposedly trying to rape someone's girlfriend, you still find him cute?"

"I can't ignore a greek god, Katie." She sighs wistfully.

"Interesting." I muse, picking up my pom poms. "Well, I have to go. Coach isn't exactly a fan of tardiness. See you later." I yell, starting into a steady jog towards my cheer coach.

Shane knocked up Cody? I mean, Cody did do something really horrible, sure. But threatening him? Did Shane really have to go that far?

"Princess, wait up!" A low voice sounds.

Speak of the devil.

"Ready for cheer?"

"I'm dog-tired; but if going for cheer means getting to see you play on the other side of the field, I'm down." I respond. "Hey, haven't seen Cody at all today. Where is he?" I ask casually, twirling my high ponytail around a finger.

"I don't know." Shane responds a little too quickly.

"Is that so? In that case, when were you gonna tell me that you knocked him up and threatened to rape Isabelle is he didn't leave school, huh?" Taking a step forward, I cross my arms over my chest and frown.

Shane lets out a long sigh and runs a hand through his hair. He bites his lip in frustration and starts. "Katie, I-"

"Sh." I whisper, pressing a finger to his lips. "I understand why you did it, and I appreciate you for trying to help me. But really, no violence was necessary."

"Thanks for understanding, Mija."

"Uh uh uh, not just yet. I do need to ask you something."

He cocks an eyebrow.

"The damage. How bad... was it?"

"A broken rib, a fractured wrist and a dislocated shoulder." He shrugs casually.

I let out an exasperated sigh and tighten my ponytail. "Shane, I don't want you or anyone getting hurt. No matter what Cody did, no matter how bad a person he is, I don't want any violence." I take his hands in mine.

"However, the intention was good so I'm letting you off the hook this time." I say, giving him a quick peck on the lips.

His eyes warm. "Have I ever told you I love you?" He says.

"Only about a million times, but why wouldn't you? If I were you, I'd love me too."

Shane rolls his eyes and yells, "You're such a kid, Katie!"

Spinning around, I bite back playfully. "Am not!" I blow a raspberry at him.

Shane's hand flies to his forehead and a slapping sound can be heard. "God Katie, you really are a kid."

"Love you." I blow a kiss at him.

He rolls his eyes again. It's a wonder they haven't dropped out of their sockets yet. "I love you too, Mija."
